Tampa Bay Lightning acquire Forward Anthony Angello from the Nashville Predators

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced the acquisition of forward Anthony Angello from the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Jesse Ylönen, as confirmed by vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois. Angello has been assigned to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Angello, 28, has appeared in 41 games this season with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals, recording seven goals, 14 points, and a plus-5 rating. The 6-foot-4, 228-pound forward has an extensive AHL career, playing in 320 games with the Admirals, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and Springfield Thunderbirds. Over his AHL career, he has registered 68 goals, 133 points, 307 penalty minutes, and 10 game-winning goals.

Angello made his NHL debut on January 31, 2020, with the Pittsburgh Penguins against Philadelphia and scored his first NHL goal on February 18, 2020, against Toronto. Across 31 NHL games, all with Pittsburgh, the Albany, New York native has contributed three goals and five points, along with a plus-3 rating and one power-play goal.

Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Angello brings size and experience to the Lightning organization.
