The Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) has taken action against influencers who marketed illegal gambling, leading to the cessation of such promotions.

During spring 2025, the SGA conducted oversight of influencers promoting unauthorized gambling platforms through their online channels. Under the Gambling Act (2018:1138), marketing illegal gambling to Swedish customers is strictly prohibited.

The investigation found that most of this advertising occurred on Twitch, a video-streaming platform popular among children and young people. Following the SGA’s supervision, influencers identified in the probe have halted their promotion of illegal gambling services.

Ongoing Regulatory Efforts

The SGA’s 2025 operational plan prioritizes combating illegal gambling and protecting young consumers. The authority will continue to monitor influencers and other actors involved in gambling-related advertising to ensure compliance with Swedish law.
