Standing at six-foot-two and weighing 200 pounds, James signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft and attended their training camp.

James joined the Vikings following a stellar collegiate career at Mercer University, where he played for four seasons (2021-24). In 45 games, he recorded 171 receptions for 3,364 yards and 30 touchdowns, boasting an impressive 19.7 yards-per-catch average. The Mississippi native achieved back-to-back 1,100+ yard seasons as a junior and senior, earning All-Southern Conference selections both years.

A standout for his program, James was nationally recognized as Mercer’s first-ever consensus All-American and a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award. He left Mercer as the all-time leading receiver, holding eight school single-game, single-season, and career records. This includes a remarkable 351-yard, two-touchdown game against Samford in 2022, which set the Southern Conference single-game receiving yards record and broke Mercer’s records for receiving and all-purpose yards in a game.
