KANSAS CITY, MO.– The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have requested Unconditional Release Waivers on first baseman/outfielder Ryan McBroom for the purpose of allowing him to sign with an Asian team.
McBroom, 29, appeared in seven games with the Royals during the 2021 season and spent most of the year with Omaha (AAA). He earned Triple-A East postseason All-Star honors, leading all Triple-A players with 32 home runs in 115 games with the Storm Chasers. He also led Triple-A East with 78 runs scored and ranked second in RBI (88). In 2020, McBroom set a Royals’ record, collecting three pinch-hit home runs in a 19-day span. He was acquired by Kansas City from the New York Yankees on Aug. 31, 2019.
