Club Options Right-Handed Pitcher Ryan Brasier to Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Michael Wacha from the 15-day Injured List. To make room for Wacha on the active roster, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Ryan Brasier to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Wacha, 30, was placed on the 15-day Injured List on May 8 due to left intercostal irritation. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA (4 ER/26.0 IP) and an 0.92 WHIP in five starts this season. Brasier, 34, appeared in last night’s win against the Seattle Mariners, allowing one run in the ninth inning. The right-hander has made a team-high 18 appearances this season, posting a 6.28 ERA (10 ER/14.1 IP).
