BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Houck, 25, pitched the first 4.0 innings of last night’s 4-1 win over the Blue Jays, allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. In six major league outings (four starts) this season, the right-hander has posted a 2.45 ERA (6 ER/22.0 IP) with 30 strikeouts and five walks. Houck has also made six starts for Worcester, going 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA (12 ER/21.0 IP).
