BOSTON, MA – Following last night’s game against the Seattle Mariners, the Boston Red Sox optioned left-handed pitcher Ryan Sherriff to Triple-A Worcester.
Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.
Sherriff, 32, pitched a scoreless eighth inning last night, allowing one hit and issuing one walk. He was signed by the Red Sox as a minor league free agent on January 21 with an invite to Major League Spring Training and did not allow an earned run in 6.2 innings over seven Grapefruit League outings. The left-hander began the season with Worcester and posted a 3.00 ERA (5 ER/15.0 IP) in 15 appearances. In 46 career Major League games with the St. Louis Cardinals (2017-18), Tampa Bay Rays (2020-21), and Boston Red Sox (2023), Sherriff owns a 3.50 ERA (18 ER/46.1 IP).
