BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today appointed first baseman/outfielder Franchy Cordero as the club’s 27th man for today’s Little League Classic game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.
Cordero, 27, has hit .219 (47-for-215) with four home runs in 72 games for Boston this season, making 41 starts at first base and 17 in the outfield. In 31 games for Triple-A Worcester, the left-handed hitter has batted .325 (38-for-117) with a .987 OPS.
