BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:
- Reinstated right-handed pitchers Kutter Crawford and Tanner Houck from the Restricted List.
- Recalled outfielder Jaylin Davis from Triple-A Worcester.
- Selected outfielder Franchy Cordero to the active major league roster from Worcester.
- Returned right-handed pitchers Tyler Danish and John Schreiber and outfielder Rob Refsnyder to Worcester.
- Designated infielder Travis Shaw for assignment.
Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.
Crawford, 26, was placed on the Restricted List on April 25. The right-hander has made five relief appearances for Boston this season after making his first Opening Day roster, posting a 9.00 ERA (7 ER/7.0 IP). Crawford allowed just one hit and struck out five over 3.0 scoreless innings in relief during his most recent outing on April 23 at Tampa Bay.
Houck, 25, was placed on the Restricted List on April 25. The right-hander is 0-0 with a 2.87 ERA (5 ER/15.2 IP) in four appearances (three starts) this season. In his most recent outing on April 24 at Tampa Bay, Houck tossed 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out two while retiring all five batters faced.
Davis, 27, was claimed off waivers from the San Francisco Giants yesterday. The right-handed hitter has played 10 games for Triple-A Sacramento this season, batting .295 (13-for-44) with five extra-base hits, seven RBI, and three stolen bases. Davis played in 26 major league games with the Giants from 2019-21, making 17 starts in right field and one in left field.
Cordero, 27, leads Triple-A with 24 RBI this season while batting .296 (21-for-71) with a .913 OPS and 11 extra-base hits in 19 games for Worcester. He played in 48 games for Boston last season, making 27 starts in left field, eight at first base, and one in right field.
Danish, 27, owns a 3.86 ERA (2 ER/4.2 IP) in four relief appearances for Boston this season, not allowing a run or hit in three of those games. The right-hander tossed 1.0 scoreless inning in his most recent outing on April 27 at Toronto.
Schreiber, 28, did not allow a run in 2.1 innings over two relief appearances for Boston after being selected to the active major league roster on April 25. The right-hander tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in relief yesterday at Toronto, allowing just one hit.
Refsnyder, 31, appeared in three games for Boston after being selected to the active major league roster on April 19. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-5 (.400) with one RBI while making one start in right field and appearing in two games at designated hitter.
Shaw, 31, appeared in seven games for Boston after making the club’s Opening Day roster. The left-handed hitter made three starts at first base and appeared in three games at designated hitter.
