Rodríguez will be available for this afternoon’s game in New York
New York — The Texas Rangers announced prior to Saturday’s game in New York that the club has placed right-handed pitcher José Leclerc on the 15-day Injured List, retroactive to June 21, with a right ankle sprain. To take his place on the active roster, the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Yerry Rodriguez.
Leclerc was injured during pregame batting practice on Friday at Yankee Stadium. He has gone 0-1 with one save and a 3.42 ERA over 24 relief appearances for the Rangers this season. The first date he would be eligible to return from the Injured List is July 6.
Rodríguez has a 3.38 ERA over 6 relief appearances spanning two stints with the Rangers this season: April 29-May 15 and June 10-12. He has spent the balance of the campaign at Round Rock, going 1-0 with 2 saves and a 4.29 ERA (10 ER/21.0 IP) in 17 relief outings. He has pitched twice for the Express since he was last optioned on June 13, with his last appearance coming on Thursday vs. Sacramento (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 SO, 32 pitches/20 strikes).
Following today’s transactions, the Rangers still have 39 players on the club’s 40-man roster, along with four players (Jacob deGrom, Brett Martin, Jake Odorizzi, and Glenn Otto) on the 60-day Injured List.
