Chicago native Reks is active for today’s game against the White Sox
Chicago — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has placed outfielder Steele Walker on the COVID-19 Related Injured List and added outfielder Zach Reks (#65) to the active roster as a replacement player from Round Rock (AAA).
Walker went 1-for-14 (.071) at the plate over 5 games with the Rangers in his first Major League action, his only hit being a home run in Tuesday’s doubleheader at Cleveland. The Dallas-area native has spent the balance of the season with Round Rock, batting .297/.395/.486/.881 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI in 20 games.
Reks is entering his third stint with the Rangers (also April 30-May 10 and May 30-June 2). The outfielder has batted .227 (5-22) with 3 RBI in 9 games for Texas in 2022. With Round Rock this season, Reks has slashed .340/.433/.631/1.064 with 6 home runs and 20 RBI in 29 games. The Chicago-area native is a 2012 graduate of Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Ill.
