- RHP Joe Barlow activated from 15-day Injured List
- RHP Garrett Richards designated for assignment
- LHP Matt Moore transferred from Paternity List to Bereavement List
- OF Kole Calhoun sent to Round Rock (AAA) on injury rehabilitation assignment
Barlow was on the 15-day Injured List from July 13-August 16 with a right index finger blister. The right-hander has gone 3-1 with a 3.26 ERA and career-high 13 saves in 30 relief outings this season. He will be seeking his first MLB action since July 12 vs. Oakland (1.0 IP, 1 R-ER).
Barlow made 4 appearances on an injury rehab assignment with Round Rock (AAA) and Frisco (AA) beginning on July 31: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R-ER, 3 BB, 5 SO. Over his last 3 games, all in August with Frisco, he has 5.1 scoreless innings including his last outing on Sunday vs. San Antonio (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 SO).
The Rangers have seven days to trade, release, or outright Richards to the minor leagues. The veteran pitcher has gone 1-1 with a 5.27 ERA in 32 games/2 starts for this season, his first with Texas after signing as a free agent on March 20.
Moore was originally placed on the Paternity List on Sunday. The left-hander has gone 4-2 with a 2.00 ERA (12 ER/54.0 IP) and 2 saves over 42 relief appearances this season.
Calhoun was placed on the 10-day Injured List on August 4, retroactive to August 3, with right heel irritation. The veteran outfielder has batted .211 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI over 97 games in his first season with Texas.
Following today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with two players (Mitch Garver and Eli White) on the 60-day Injured List.
