NWSL Preview: Orlando Pride Travels to Take on the Chicago Red Stars

Orlando continues its three-game run away from home

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Pride (2-3-2, 8 points) is set to face off against the Chicago Red Stars (3-1-3, 12 points) on Sunday, June 12 at 6 p.m. ET at SeatGeek Stadium. The match is set to be streamed on Paramount+ in the U.S. and internationally on Twitch.

“We had a great session yesterday making sure they are prepared for Sunday,” Assistant Coach Seb Hines said. “Chicago is playing well, but it is an even league. Anyone can beat anyone on that day. My job is to make sure that the players are prepared to perform to the best of their ability on Sunday.”

Hines will serve at the helm for the Pride over the weekend with Head Coach Amanda Cromwell placed on administrative leave as announced earlier this week.

Sunday’s fixture will mark the second of the campaign for the Pride against the Red Stars, the latter taking a 4-2 victory at Exploria Stadium on May 22.

The Pride enter the weekend after dropping their first road decision of the year last Friday in Houston. Through three fixtures away from home in 2022, the side holds a 2-1-0 record, with victories at Angel City and North Carolina in that span, sitting as one of four teams in the NWSL to have at least two road wins so far this season.

Mikayla Cluff and Sydney Leroux lead the Pride with a pair of finishes each in 2022, with Leroux leading the side in total goal contributions with an assist to add.

The Red Stars enter the weekend facing a quick turnaround, having battled to a scoreless stalemate with the Washington Spirit on Wednesday night. Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher tallied three saves on the night to preserve the clean sheet.

Mallory Pugh leads Chicago with four goals this campaign, followed by Bianca St. Georges and Ella Stevens each with two. Ava Cook leads the side in assists with three to her credit.

Following Sunday’s contest, the Pride will continue their stretch on the road and head to Portland to take on the Thorns on June 19 at Providence Park. Kickoff for the match is set for 3 p.m. ET.
