MLS Preview: New England Revolution (6-5-7) at New York City FC (8-4-5)

New York City FC eliminated Supporters’ Shield winning New England in last season’s playoffs, winning a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in the Conference Semifinal. NYCFC has won only one of its last five regular season meetings with the Revs (D1 L3), though the lone win did come at home last August.

New York City FC is winless in four straight games following a 2-2 draw with Atlanta United on Sunday (D3 L1). NYCFC has conceded in all four matches after going a club-record six straight games without allowing a goal.

New England’s unbeaten run extended to 10 games following a 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati on Sunday (W4 D6). The Revs can equal the longest single season unbeaten run in club history, having previously gone 11 straight without defeat in 2019 and 2005.

Valentín Castellanos scored both of New York City’s goals in its 2-2 draw with Atlanta on Sunday. Castellanos has scored 17 goals at Yankee Stadium since the start of last season, three more than any other player in any venue in that time.

The Revolution led twice in their 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati, conceding the second equalizer in the 73rd minute. New England has dropped an MLS-high nine points on goals scored in the 70th minute or later this season.
