MLS Preview: Charlotte FC (5-7-1) at Seattle Sounders (4-6-1)

The Sounders have lost only one of their nine all-time home matches against expansion sides (W4 D4), a 1-0 defeat to LAFC in 2018.

Seattle suffered its sixth defeat in its 11 games this season, losing 1-0 at Colorado on Sunday, as they’ve lost more at this stage of a season only once (7 in 2018). The Sounders didn’t lose their sixth game until October 16 last season, their 29th match of the campaign.

Charlotte FC recorded its first come-from-behind victory in MLS on Sunday, beating the Whitecaps, 2-1, after going a goal down. Fifteen of Charlotte’s 16 points have come at home as its managed just one point in six away matches, a scoreless draw at Colorado in April.

The Sounders have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven regular season home matches dating back to last season (they did keep one vs. RSL in the playoffs last season), the longest Seattle has ever gone without a regular season home clean sheet in its MLS history.

Charlotte FC’s comeback win over Vancouver on Sunday was its fifth win in just 13 MLS games. Only two expansion sides have recorded more wins in their first 13 games in the league: Chicago (7) in 1998 and LAFC (6) in 2018.
