LA Galaxy defeated Austin, 1-0, at Q2 Stadium on May 8, the first away points in the brief history of this rivalry. The two meetings in 2021 saw each side record a 2-0 victory at home.

The Galaxy’s 3-0 defeat to Houston on Sunday was the seventh time they’ve lost a home match by at least three goals since the start of the 2017 season, equaling their number of three-goal home defeats from their first 21 MLS seasons (incl. playoffs).

Austin FC came from two goals down to draw Orlando City, 2-2, on Sunday, the second time this season Austin has faced a multi-goal deficit and the second time they’ve come back to avoid defeat after a 3-2 win at D.C. after going 2-0 down in April. Last season, Austin trailed by at least two goals 10 times and failed to collect a single point from any of those games.

The Galaxy failed to score with any of their 16 shots against Houston on Sunday, the second time this season LA has taken at least 15 shots and failed to score in a match. The Galaxy have attempted more than 10 shots in a match nine times this season, but managed multiple goals in just one of those.

Sebastián Driussi scored from the penalty spot on Sunday, his eighth goal of the season for Austin, more than any player scored for the club in its inaugural 2021 campaign. Driussi’s 12 goal contributions this season (8 goals, 4 assists) are most in MLS and has already equaled the club’s leader from 2021 (D. Fagúndez – 7 goals, 5 assists).
