This will be the first MLS meeting between Austin FC and Inter Miami CF.

Austin FC set an MLS record in its season opener against FC Cincinnati, winning, 5–0, the largest margin of victory in a season opening match in league history. Twelve teams in MLS history, including Columbus last Saturday, had won a season opener by four goals before.

Inter Miami opened its 2022 season with a scoreless draw against the Fire, the 15th time both Chicago and Miami failed to score since the beginning of last season. In fact, only Austin FC (17 times) has been shut out in regular season matches more often than Miami and Chicago since the start of the 2021 campaign.

Cecilio Domínguez scored two of Austin FC’s five goals in the win over Cincinnati on Saturday. It was the fourth multi-goal game in Austin FC’s brief MLS history, and the third for Domínguez in the green and black.

Last season, Miami took the fewest shots per match in MLS, at just 9.6, but did hit 37.1 percent on target, fourth highest in the league. They reversed the problem on Saturday, attempting 17 shots but managing to hit the target just 3 times (17.6%).
