Pittsburgh Pirates acquire left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks from Colorado

The Pittsburgh Pirates today acquired left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for minor league left-handed pitcher Luis Peralta.

The 31-year-old Beeks has made a career-high 45 relief appearances for the Rockies this season, posting a 6-4 record with nine saves and a 4.74 ERA (26 ER in 49.1 IP). The 5-foot-11 southpaw has limited left-handed hitters to a .182 batting average in 2024, including a .136 mark over his last 16 appearances since June 6.

Beeks has made 176 appearances (19 starts) over parts of six Major League seasons with the Boston Red Sox (2018), Tampa Bay Rays (2018-23) and Colorado Rockies (2024), pitching to a 22-15 record with 14 saves and a 4.43 ERA (161 ER in 327.0 IP). He was originally selected by the Red Sox in the 12th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Arkansas.
