The Pirates have selected RHP Chase De Jong from Triple-A Indianapolis and have optioned RHP Roansy Contreras to Indianapolis.
To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Luis Oviedo has been designated for assignment.
In three games (two starts) with Indianapolis this season, the 28-year-old De Jong has gone 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA (13.0ip/7h/3r/3er/5bb/19so).
He tossed 7.0 hitless innings on 4/13 at St. Paul and combined with Austin Brice (1.0ip) and Yerry De Los Santos (1.0ip) on the 15th no-hitter in Indianapolis team history.
The 22-year-old Contreras went 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA (7.2ip/3er) and 10 strikeouts in three relief appearances with the Pirates this season. He won his first Major League game after tossing 3.0 scoreless innings on 4/14 vs. Washington.
