The Phillies recalled catcher Rafael Marchán from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, reinstated him from the 60-day injured list (right hamate fracture) and optioned him to Lehigh Valley. To make room for Marchán on the 40-man roster, left-handed pitcher Michael Plassmeyer has been released.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.

Marchán, 24, hit .263 (10-38) with one double, eight RBI, six walks and seven runs scored in 10 games behind the plate while rehabbing with single-A Clearwater (1 game), single-A Jersey Shore (3 games) and Lehigh Valley (7 games).

Marchán was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on July 2, 2015.

Plassmeyer, 26, began his season with the IronPigs and appeared in 11 games (10 starts). For his major league career, he went 0-1 with a 3.68 ERA (3 ER, 7.1 IP) in two relief appearances for the Phillies in 2022.

Originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft, Plassmeyer was acquired from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Austin Wynns on June 8, 2022.
