Phillies recall Marte; option Bellatti

Following game one of today’s doubleheader, the Phillies recalled right-handed pitcher Yunior Marte from triple-A Lehigh Valley. To make room for him on the 28-man roster, right-handed pitcher Andrew Bellatti was optioned to Lehigh Valley.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.

Marte, 28, has gone 3-1 with one save, a 1.80 ERA (4 ER, 20.0 IP), nine walks and 24 strikeouts in 18 relief appearances for the IronPigs this year. Over his five stints with the Phillies this season, the Dominican Republic native has appeared in 36 games for the club and has a 5.14 ERA (20 ER, 35.0 IP) with 14 walks and 33 strikeouts. Marte, who made his first career Opening Day roster in 2023, has recorded two holds and two saves for the Phillies this year.

Originally signed by the Kansas City Royals as an amateur free agent on July 19, 2012, Marte was acquired from the San Francisco Giants by the Phillies in exchange for left-handed pitcher Erik Miller on Jan. 8, 2023.

Bellatti, 32, has made 27 appearances in four stints with the club this season, going 1-0 with a 5.11 ERA (14 ER, 24.2 IP) and 25 strikeouts.

He was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 12th round of the 2009 MLB Draft and was signed by the Phillies as a minor league free agent on Nov. 19, 2021.
