The Brazilian striker will be on loan with the Union through the end of the year with an option to buy
CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union announced today that the club has acquired Matheus “Davό” Alvarenga de Oliveira on loan from Brazilian club, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. The 21-year-old will be added to the Union’s active roster immediately and will occupy an international roster slot. Davό will be on loan with the Union through the end of the year, with a club option to buy at that time.

“We’re excited to welcome Matheus to the Philadelphia Union and add a versatile young attacker to our roster,” said Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner. “We have looked for a technically advanced striker like Matheus who can play underneath his partner and link defense to attack. We look forward to getting him quickly integrated into our system.”
Davό has been on loan with Brazilian club Guarani FC in the Série B league where he has scored five goals and added four assists in 44 appearances (41 starts). He recorded his first multi-point game for the club when he scored a goal and recorded an assist on June 2, 2021, in a 5-2 victory over Operário-PR, and contributed with another multi-point game when he scored and added a helper in a 4-1 win over Confianca-SE on July 21, 2021.
This past year, Davό also competed with Guarani FC in Campeonato Paulista Série A1, a 16-club regional championship league in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In seven matches, he scored one goal and added two assists that helped his club earn a spot in the quarterfinals, where they would ultimately fall 4-3 in penalties.
Prior to his loan to Guarani, Davo competed for Corinthians in Serie A where he made four appearances and scored twice, including the game winner in a 1-0 victory over Sport Club Internacional, for the first-tier Brazilian club.
