Prior to today’s game against the New York Mets, the Phillies returned infielder Alec Bohm from his rehab assignment with triple-A Lehigh Valley and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list. To make room for Bohm on the 28-man roster, catcher Aramis Garcia was designated for assignment.

The 28-year-old Bohm was named an All-Star for the first time in his career after winning phase two of fan voting and being elected the National League’s starting third baseman. He leads the NL with 44 doubles this season, one shy of Scott Rolen’s franchise record of 45 by a third baseman in 1998. Slashing .290/.343/.462 (.805 OPS) in 131 games for the Phillies this year, Bohm went 2-for-4 with a double in his lone rehab appearance with the IronPigs at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre yesterday. The Omaha, Neb., native was selected by the Phillies in the first round (3rd overall) of the 2018 MLB Draft.
Garcia, 31, played in three games for the Phillies after having his contract selected by the club on Sept. 7. Originally selected by the San Francisco Giants in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft, he was signed by Philadelphia as a minor league free agent on Feb. 14, 2023.
