NEW YORK – Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Boston Bruins forward Garnet Hathaway during Game 4 of the teams’ First Round Series in Florida on Sunday, April 23, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 20:00 of the first period. Tkachuk was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
