NEW YORK – Florida Panthers forward Joe Thornton has been fined $1,875, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for slashing Tampa Bay Lightning forward Boris Katchouk during NHL Game No. 42 in Tampa Bay on Tuesday, Oct. 19, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 15:10 of the first period. Thornton was assessed a minor penalty for slashing.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
