COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Casino Control Commission says a message circulated this week about credit‑card use in sports wagering accounts was not a new proposal, but a reference to an existing rule amendment already moving through the state’s regulatory process.
In a notice emailed to sports‑gaming stakeholders, the Commission said the July 8 communication pointed back to the same proposed change to Ohio Administrative Code 3775‑16‑03 — the section governing sports‑gaming accounts — that was released for public comment in early May.
The amendment would remove credit cards as an approved funding method for sports‑betting accounts. According to the Commission, the draft language was first posted for public feedback on May 6, with comments accepted through May 15. Commissioners also discussed the proposal during their June 17 public meeting.
The agency said the rule package has since been formally filed with the state’s Common Sense Initiative Office, a required step in Ohio’s rulemaking process. The filing includes the proposed text, rule summaries and a Business Impact Analysis.
Stakeholders with questions or seeking additional information ahead of any further comment opportunities were encouraged to contact their Commission representatives.
As always, confirm regulatory details with official state sources, as rulemaking processes can evolve.
