Oakland Athletics place LHP Harris on paternity list; recall RHP Otañez from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s placed left-handed pitcher Hogan Harris on the paternity list and recalled right-handed pitcher Michel Otañez from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Harris was recalled from Las Vegas May 30 for his third stint with the A’s this year and is 1-3 with a 3.00 ERA in seven starts since his return. He is 1-3 with a 3.22 ERA and .746 opponents OPS in nine games, including seven starts, overall with the A’s.

Otañez joins the A’s for the second time in 2024. He was originally selected on June 9, made his Major League debut on June 10 at San Diego (0.2 ip, 1 h, 1 bb) and was optioned to Las Vegas on June 12. The 27-year-old right-hander had a 10.57 ERA and .968 opponents OPS in seven games with the Aviators following his option and is 7-1 with a save and a 5.35 ERA in 29 relief appearances overall at Triple-A. Otañez is tied for third in the Pacific Coast League in wins as has held right-handed hitters to a .182 batting average.
