Lynn Family Stadium | Louisville, Kentucky – Saturday, September 2 at 7:30 PM ET
Players to watch:
Against Gotham, Louisville goalkeeper Katie Lund earned her NWSL-leading ninth clean sheet in all NWSL competitions this season. Lund had eight shutouts last season, making her the fourth goalkeeper in league history with consecutive years of eight or more shutouts, joining Bella Bixby (2021-22), Katelyn Rowland (2017-18), and Nicole Barnhart (2013-15).
Portland midfielder Sam Coffey leads NWSL with seven assists in regular season play this season, joining Tobin Heath (2016 and 2018) as the only Thorns ever with seven or more assists in a single campaign. Coffey’s seven assists are the most by any NWSL player in a season since Yuki Nagasato (8) and Debinha (7) in 2019.
Match facts: As the push for the NWSL Playoffs continues, Racing Louisville FC hosts Portland Thorns FC in the second game of Saturday’s action. Racing is currently just on the outside looking in in 8th place with 21 points from 17 games played, while Portland is on top in 1st place with 29 points from 17 games played.
Across all NWSL competitions, Racing Louisville has scored 70.0% of its goals at home this season (21/30). That is the highest such percentage by any NWSL team this season. Louisville has also lost only one of its eight contests at Lynn Family Stadium in the regular season as well, missing out against North Carolina in a 2-1 loss at the end of May.
The Thorns are coming off a 1-1 road draw against the Spirit, which was Portland’s 21st consecutive road regular season match scoring at least one goal. The streak, which started in October of 2021, is four games longer than the next-longest such streak in league history (Orlando – 17, 2019-21).
The Thorns have won all five meetings against Racing Louisville, scoring multiple goals in each game while allowing just one goal in total. It is Portland’s longest ever streak while scoring two or more goals in each game against a single opponent.
