Exploria Stadium | Orlando, Florida – Friday, July 7 at 7:00 PM ET
Players to watch:
Orlando forward Julie Doyle scored her first NWSL brace on Saturday, netting two goals in the first 16 minutes of the match. It was the second-fastest from kickoff a Pride player has scored twice (Rachel Hill – 15’ in September 2017) and the fastest in a regular season NWSL match by any player since Ifeoma Onumonu (15’) in August 2021.
Scoring four goals in their last four games, the Reign have relied on four different goalscorers to pick up 8 points from those four played. Defender Sofia Huerta and forward Jordyn Huitema scored in a 2-1 win over Kansas City, forward Bethany Balcer scored a brace in a 2-1 win over San Diego, and most recently, forwards Veronica Latsko and Elyse Bennett each tallied a goal in the club’s 2-2 draw with Louisville. The only game the Reign failed the find the back of the net in was a scoreless draw at Houston on June 18.
Match facts: The Orlando Pride host the OL Reign in the first of a full six-game slate across the NWSL in the last of the regular season games until mid-August due to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The Pride are in 9th place heading into the contest with 16 points from 14 games, while OL Reign are in 3rd place with 24 points from 14 games played.
The Pride won their last match, 3-0, at the Washington Spirit on Saturday, their largest margin of victory in an NWSL match since a 5-2 win at Chicago in May 2018. The Pride have won five of their last 11 matches in all competitions, equaling their win total form their previous 38 games dating back to September 2021.
OL Reign have won 10 of their last 15 away matches in all NWSL competitions (D3 L2) dating back to late July last year. The Reign have allowed a league-low five goals in road matches this season, keeping five clean sheets, tied with San Diego for most in the league.
OL Reign are unbeaten in 13 straight meetings with Orlando (W6 D7) after the Pride won the first meeting in May 2016. There have only been two longer regular season unbeaten runs by one team over another in NWLS history (POR – 18 straight vs. CHI; CHI – 15 straight vs. NJNY from 2013-18).
