Scene Setter
The Winnipeg Jets play their second game in as many nights when they visit the Seattle Kraken for the first time this season on Sunday night. Winnipeg lost 3-2 to the Calgary Flames on Saturday in the first game of the road trip. Winnipeg begins a three-game homestand on Thursday when they entertain the Anaheim Ducks.

Recap: The Jets came back to tie the game twice, but lost 3-2 to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night. Neal Pionk (1G, 1A) and Josh Morrissey (2A) each had a pair of points for the Jets. Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves in his fourth consecutive start. Dylan Samberg led the Jets with five shots.
Climbing the Standings
The Jets have moved to fourth overall in the NHL with a .708 points percentage… With a record of 8-3-1, it’s the second time in franchise history the team has eight wins through the first 12 games of the season (2006-07 – 8-1-3) and the first time since relocation… The Jets franchise has never won nine games in their first 13 games of a season.

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is 5-1-1 in his past seven starts while boasting a 1.70 goals-against average, .947 save percentage and two shutouts… The stretch started with a 25-save shutout against the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 24… On the season, Hellebuyck is third in the NHL with a .935 save percentage… Hellebuyck registered his 30th career shutout last Saturday, which is second in the NHL behind Marc-Andre Fleury (33) since Hellebuyck entered the NHL in 2015-16… He’s one of 24 goalies in NHL history to have 30 shutouts in the first 390 games of their career.
Team Leader
Josh Morrissey is tied for firth among NHL defencemen with 13 assists in 13 games this season and tied for sixth with 14 points… He has an assist in 10 of his 13 games, including three games with two assists… Morrissey is on pace for 82 assists this season, while his career high is 26 in 65 games during the 2019-20 season… Morrissey is also leading the team in scoring and is on pace to become the first defenceman to lead the team in scoring in franchise history… The franchise record for points by a defenceman in a season is 56, which Dustin Byfuglien did in 2013-14… Byfuglien (4 times), Toby Enstrom (twice), and Jacob Trouba (once) are the only defenceman in franchise history to post 50 points or more in a season.

Jets defenceman have accounted for 28.2% of Winnipeg’s points this season, including four of the five points Jets players had on Saturday… Winnipeg was 23rd in the NHL last season with defenceman accounting for 24.2% of the team’s points… Jets defencemen are on pace for 44 goals this season after scoring 24 goals last season.
Goal Streaker
Pierre-Luc Dubois has scored in four consecutive games and has seven goals in 13 games this season… It’s tied for the longest goal scoring streak of his career… Dubois is on pace for 44 goals this season, which was shatter his career high 28 goals he set last season.
New Staff
The Jets announced Rick Bowness as the team’s head coach on July 3. He most recently served as head coach of the Dallas Stars from Dec. 10/19 until the end of the 2021-22 season. The Moncton, N.B. native led the Stars to an 89-62-25 record in 176 regular season games and a trip to the 2020 Stanley Cup Final… Scott Arniel is the team’s new associate coach, while Brad Lauer and Marty Johnston serve as assistant coaches. Arniel was most recently with the Washington Capitals, while Brad Lauer is coming off a WHL championship as the head coach of the Edmonton Oil

On The Power Play
The Jets are 8-for-43 (18.6%) on the power play through the first 13 games of the season… The Jets have scored half of their eight power play goals in their past four games, going 4-for-13… Winnipeg scored a season-high three power play goals last Saturday against Chicago… Pierre-Luc Dubois (3G, 2A) leads the Jets with five points on the power play this season… The Jets finished 17th in the NHL with a power play that clicked at 21.1% last season… It was the fifth consecutive season the power play has finished better than 20.0%… Winnipeg’s 52 power play goals was the most in the previous three seasons… The Jets longest streak with a power play goal was five games from Dec. 17-Jan. 6… Kyle Connor led the Jets with 28 power play points (8G, 20A) last season… Pierre-Luc Dubois led the team with 15 power play goals, which is a career high. The Jets are back to .500 on the road this season at 3-3-1… Defencemen Josh Morrissey (7A) and Neal Pionk (4G, 3A) lead the Jets in scoring on the road with seven points… The Jets played six of their first nine games of the season on the road… Winnipeg’s first 15 road games are against Western Conference teams… The Jets were 16-17-8 on the road last season… Kyle Connor led the Jets in scoring on the road last season with 52 points (26G, 26A) in 39 games, which was tied for seventh in the NHL… His 52 points was one shy of tying the franchise record (Ilya Kovalchuk – 53 in 2005-06).

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
• Tonight’s game against the Jets is the third of six consecutive games that the Kraken will play at home, their longest such stretch of the season.
• The Kraken enter tonight’s game with a 100 percent success rate on the penalty kill all-time against the Winnipeg Jets. They were a perfect 6-for-6 while shorthanded against the Jets last season.

• The two teams have both previously played on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, Monday, Nov. 29, 2021 and Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022.
• The Kraken hold a 2-2-0 record on days in which their game has overlapped with the Seahawks. They defeated the Washington Capitals 5-2 on Nov. 21 (a 23-13 Seahawks loss to the Cardinals) and the Buffalo Sabres 7-4 on Nov. 29 (a 17-15 Seahawks loss to the Cardinals).
• If both teams were to win today, it would mark the first time that the Kraken and Seahawks won a game on the same day. The Seahawks are set to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 6:30 a.m. PT in Munich, the first-ever NFL game to take place in Germany.
• Seattle is one of 18 markets in North America to be home to both an NHL and NFL team. Los Angeles and the Bay Area are the only markets in which its NHL team and one of its NFL team play in the same division as Seattle’s counterparts.

FAMILIAR FOES
• Brandon Tanev is the only Kraken player to have previously played for the Jets. After signing with the team as an undrafted free agent, Tanev totaled 51 points (24 goals, 27 assists) in 195 regular-season games and added eight points (five goals, three assists) in 22 playoff games.
• Assistant Coach Dave Lowry was an assistant coach and then Winnipeg’s head coach from 2020-21 to 2021-22. He is the father of Jets forward Adam Lowry.
• Kraken Assistant General Manager Jason Botterill is a Winnipeg native and played for the Jets organization during the 1999-00 season while the team was located in Atlanta.
• Chris Driedger – who is currently on injured reserve – is a native of Winnipeg.

• Martin Jones has posted 5-2-0 record in his last seven games played dating back to Oct. 25 vs. Buffalo. His 1.44 goals-against average and his .942 save percentage led and ranked fourth, respectively, among goaltenders that have played at least five games during that span entering play Saturday.
• According to Evolving Hockey, Jones has saved 6.03 goals above expected at five-on-five during that span, which ranked sixth in the NHL entering play Saturday.
• Entering play Saturday, Jones’ seven wins were tied for the third-most in the NHL this season. Among goalies that have played in at least 10 games this season, Jones ranked seventh with a .910 save percentage and fifth with a 2.32 goals-against average entering play Saturday.
KILLING IT
• The Kraken have gone a perfect 16-for-16 on the penalty kill dating back to Oct. 29 vs. Pittsburgh. Entering play Saturday, the Kraken were one of two teams (Winnipeg) to post a 100 percent success rate on the penalty kill since Oct. 29.
• Yanni Gourde scored a shorthanded goal on Nov. 1 at Calgary, his first goal of the season. The goal gives the Kraken a plus1 goal differential on the penalty kill dating back to Oct. 29, which was tied with Winnipeg for the league lead entering play Saturday.
• If the Kraken remain perfect on the penalty kill tonight, the team would extend their franchise-best streak of not allowing a powerplay goal to seven games.
• Entering play Saturday, the team’s current streak of six games was the longest active penalty killing streak and was tied for the second-longest streak this season.
• Only the New York Islanders (eight games; Oct. 13 to 28) have played more consecutive games without allowing a power-play goal.
WINNING WAYS
• The Kraken are 5-1-0 in their last six games dating back to Oct. 29 vs. Pittsburgh. Their five wins were tied for the third-most in the NHL during that span entering play Saturday and their 0.833 points percentage ranked fourth.
• Since Oct. 29 the Kraken have outscored their opponents 20-9. Their plus-11 goal differential during that span trailed only the New Jersey Devils (plus-13) for the league lead entering play Saturday.
• The Kraken have only allowed nine goals in those six games dating back to Oct. 29, which ranked second in the league entering play Saturday, trailing only the Winnipeg Jets (five), who have played in two fewer games. Their 1.50 goals against per game played also ranked second behind the Jets (1.25) during that span entering play Saturday.
• Entering play Saturday, the Kraken ranked third in the Pacific Division with 18 points in 15 games played. They trailed only the Vegas Golden Knights (24 points) and Los Angeles Kings (19 points) for the division lead.
• Seattle owns an 8-5-2 record this season with their eight wins coming against the Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins (2). FOUR’S COMPANY
• The Seattle Kraken will forgo naming a captain for the 2022-23 season and have named four alternate captains as part of this year’s leadership group: Jordan Eberle, Yanni Gourde, Adam Larsson and Jaden Schwartz.
• This season will mark the second-consecutive year that all four of Eberle, Gourde, Larsson and Schwartz will wear a letter for the Kraken.
• Prior to joining the Kraken, Eberle previously served as an alternate captain for the Edmonton Oilers for five seasons (2012-13 to 2016-17). Larsson also wore an “A” for Edmonton after Eberle’s departure – from 2017-18 to 2020-21.
• Eberle leads all Kraken players in career games played (873), goals (265), assists (340) and points (605).
• Schwartz was an alternate captain for the St. Louis Blues for three seasons (2017-18 to 2019-20) and was a part of the team’s leadership group when they won the 2019 Stanley Cup.
