Recap: After a scoreless first period, the Jets scored once in the second and three times in the third to shut out the St. Louis Blu es 4-0 on
Monday night. Josh Morrissey had two assists for the only multi-point night for the Jets. Morgan Barron, who scored his first goal of the season, and Neal Pionk led the Jets with six shots each. Connor Hellebuyck turned away 25 shots, including 13 in the first period, to earn his first shutout of the season.

On the Road
The Jets are in the midst of playing six of eight games on the road to open the season and went 1-2-0 during their first road trip… The six games are a pair of three-game, four-night trips… Winnipeg’s first 15 road games are against Western Conference teams… The Jets were 16-17-8 on the road last season and have dropped six of their past seven road games dating back to last season… Kyle Connor led the Jets in scoring on the road last season with 52 points (26G, 26A) in 39 games, which was tied for seventh in the NHL… His 52 points was one shy of tying the franchise record (Ilya Kovalchuk – 53 in 2005-06).

It’s the eighth time in franchise history a player has reached the 90-point mark in a season… Pierre-Luc Dubois’ 15 power play goals ended the season tied for eighth in franchise history and are the most since Patrik Laine had 15 power play tallies in 2018-19… Kyle Connor and Adam Lowry each had three shorthanded goals this season, which ranks tied for fourth in franchise history. On the Farm
The Manitoba Moose are 4-0-1 on the season after sweeping a three-game, three-night road trip last weekend… The Moose are first in the AHL’s Central Division… Jansen Harkins leads the Moose and is seventh in AHL scoring with seven points (4G, 3A) in four games… Manitoba welcomes the Iowa Wild to Canada Life Centre on Saturday and Sunday to begin a six-game homestand.

VILARDI PARTY
Gabriel Vilardi recorded his fifth goal of the season Tuesday night against the Lightning, tying his total through 25 games last season. Vilardi also collected an assist for his fourth multi-point game (1-1=1) game of the season, tying him for most in the league. Vilardi leads
the team in points with nine (5-4=9) in eight games. His seven even-strength points rank tied for sixth in the league. At 23 years and 72 days old, Vilardi is one of four players 23 years or younger to have at least nine points on the season, joining Rasmus Dahlin (5-4=9), Andrei Svechnikov (7-2=9) and Brady Tkachuk (5-5=10). All four players are the leading point scorer for their respective clubs. Vilardi joins Tkachuk as the only two players in the league 23 years or younger to have four multi-point games this season. Vilardi opened the season for the LA Kings with his first period goal on Oct. 11, becoming the fourth-youngest LA skater in the past 15 years to score in the team’s season-opening game at 23 years and 56 days old. Vilardi finished the night with two points (1-1=2) for his fifth career multi-point game. He followed his opening night performance with another two-point (1-1=2) outing on Oct. 15 against the Wild. Vilardi once again found score sheet three separate times (2-1=3) in LA’s back-to-back on last Monday and Tuesday in Detroit (1-0=1) and Nashville (1-1=2).

LET’S GET PHYSICAL
With 16 hits in his last four games, and 22 so far this season, Carl Grundstrom leads the team in hits. Since his NHL debut on March 9, 2019, only Matt Roy (353) and Dustin Brown (341) tallied more hits than Grundstrom among LA skaters. With a 3.14 hits-per-game played average, Grundstrom is on pace to lead the team in hits for the third consecutive season (134 in 2021-22; 104 in 2020-21). Grundstrom scored his first goal of the season last Thursday night in Pittsburgh for the 21st goal of his career. In 136 career NHL games, Grundstrom has registered 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points, which ranks seventh among Swede-born players in Kings history and third-most among Swedish-born players from the 2016 NHL Draft class.

LAYING THE BODY
Defenseman Brandt Clarke collected his second assist of his career Tuesday night against the Lightning. Clarke, who made his NHL debut on Oct. 13, has appeared in every game for the Kings. The blueliner registered his first career point last Thursday night in Pittsburgh with a primary assist on Carl Grundstrom’s third period goal. In doing so, Clarke became the 7th youngest defenseman, and 18th youngest overall skater, in LA Kings history to record a point at 19 years and 253 days old. With nine blocks in his last three games, Clarke’s blocked shots total sits at 11. Since his NHL debut, Clarke’s blocked shot total ranks fourth in the league among all rookies:

Clarke, who was drafted by the Kings eighth overall in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft, became the 32nd teenager to play for the Kings in franchise history at the age of 19 years and 246 days. He is also the fourth teenager to make his NHL debut under Todd McLellan, joining Tobias Bjornfot (18 years, 182 days), Quinton Byfield (18 years, 252 days) and Arthur Kaliyev (19 years, 221 days).

TIME MACHINE
Defenseman Drew Doughty currently sits atop the league in highest time on ice average per game with 27:34 minutes. With 28:08 min. of ice time logged on Tuesday against Tampa, Doughty became the first skater in the league to eclipse 200 minutes of total time on ice this season. The veteran blueliner has averaged a time on ice of 27:00 minutes or higher in six of the team’s eight games. The 2022-23 season marks Quick’s 15 th NHL season in the crease for the Kings. Quick, who has now played in 718 career games, currently sits second for most games played among active goaltenders behind Marc Andre-Fleury (944). In the Kings season-opener, which moved Quick into sole possession of second place with his 713rd career game, he stopped 47-of-51 shots, marking the most by a Kings goaltender in a season-opening game previously set by Rogie Vachon (45 on Oct. 7, 1972 at PIT). Overall, his 47-save performance ranks third-most in a season-opening game in league history behind Tomas Vokoun (52) and Jeff Hackett (48). Last season, Quick eclipsed the 20-win plateau for the ninth time in his career, posting a 23-13-9 record in 46 games with a 2.59 GAA and .910 SV%. On Dec. 9, 2021, he collected his 56th career shutout, making him the 23rd goaltender in NHL history to reach such mark. Quick won his 350th career game on Feb. 25, 2022 in Anaheim, becoming the fourth American-born goaltender to reach such mark, following Ryan Miller (391), John Vanbiesbrouck (374) and Tom Barrasso (369). The Milford, Conn. native started his 700th career game on Mar. 13, 2022 versus Florida, putting him in elite company as the 30th goaltender in NHL history, and fourth U.S.-born, to play in 700 games.
