GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
November 19 – Vegas Golden Knights 3, Edmonton Oilers 4 OT
The Vegas Golden Knights (14-4-1) kicked off their road trip with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers (10-8-0) on Saturday night at Rogers Place. Edmonton opened the socring on a Warren Foegele goal less than two minutes intot he contest, but Keegan Kolesar’s late tally sent the teams into the intermission level at 1-1. Mark Stone gave the Golden Knights their first lead of the night as he converted on a penalty shot to make it 2-1 early in the seond, Leon Draisaitl tied the game midway through the frame and the second period ended in a 2-2 stalemante. Zach Hyman’s early goal gave the Oilers a 3-2 edfe, but Stone’s second of the night tied the game with less than 10 minutes to play. In overtime, Connor McDavid found the back of the net to lift the Oilers to the win.

Aye-Aye Captain!
Captain Mark Stone notched his sixth and seventh goals of the season on Saturday at Edmonton. The captain’s first goal of the night came from a penalty shot, in the first time that he had been awared one in his career. Stone has totaled 15 points (7G, 8A) this season, recording nine points in the last 10 games. Stone’s two goals against the Oilers mark his first multi-goal game of the season and the first time since December 21, 2021. Stone has had four multi-point games this season and is fourth on the team in scoring for the Golden Knights.

Jack of all Trades
Jack Eichel stayed on pace in Edmonton on Saturday night, as the forward recorded his 15th point in the last 11 games. Eichel reached 400 career points when he potted his 10th goal of the season on November 15 against San Jose. Eichel became the fifth player in his draft class (2015) to reach the 400-point mark. Eichel was the consistent point leader during Vegas’ nine-game win streak, as the centerman extended his point streak to seven games with a four-point performance against his former club on November 10. Eichel leads Vegas in points with 22 in 19 games (10G, 12A; he was the fastest Golden Knight to reach 20 points (17 team games). The forward has recorded at least one point in 14 of Vegas’ 19 games, including six multi-point games.

The Shorty King
Reilly Smith netted his third shorthanded goal of the season against St. Louis on November 12. Smith leads the league with his three shorties and Vegas is tied for first as the team with the most short handed goals this season with four. His 11 shorthanded goals since joining Vegas in 2017-18 are the most in franchise history.

Alex Pietrangelo scored his second goal of the season to put the Golden Knights on the board first in a 4-1 victory against Arizona last Friday. With his third three-point game of the season (1G, 2A), Pietrangelo continues to amplify Vegas’ early success this season. Pietrangelo has 15 assists in 18 games for the Golden Knights, tied for second by a defenseman and for fifth of all skaters in the NHL. Pietrangelo leads the Golden Knights in TOI averaging 23:28 per game.

Easy Steph-y
Chandler Stephenson has continued to play a pivotal role in the Golden Knights’ offensive success this season. Posting 18 points in Vegas’ 19 games, Stephenson has three game-winning goals, 12 assists, and is 62.3% at the dot. Stephenson has recorded a point in five straight games twice this season including seven assists during his most recent point streak.

Martinez Block Party
Golden Knights defenseman Alec Martinez leads the NHL with 88 blocked shots in 19 games this season. Martinez has led the team in blocked shots in 14 of the 19 games. Recently, Martinez recorded a season high of nine blocked shots against the San Jose Sharks on November 15, matching his career high and the franchise record, which he shares with Deryk Engelland.

The Iron Man
Phil Kessel skated in his 1,000th consecutive game on November 17 against Arizona, which is a first for the NHL. In his last 1,000 games, Kessel has recorded 335 goals and 501 assists for a combined 836 points. Kessel’s streak started when he was a Maple Leaf in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Nov. 3, 2009. Kessel appeared in his 990th consecutive game on October 25th against the San Jose Sharks and broke Keith Yandle’s all-time record for the most consecutive games played in NHL history. Additionally, Kessel scored his 400th career goal during the first period in San Jose to become the 12th American-born player to score 400 NHL goals. A two-time Stanley Cup champion (2015-16, 2016-17), Kessel has 963 points (402 G, 561A) in 1,223 career NHL games. He ranks eighth among active players in career games played and tenth in career points.

First Things First
Alex Pietrangelo’s second-period goal against San Jose marked the 13th time Vegas has scored first in a game. The Golden Knights have scored seven times in the first five minutes of the first period through 17 games, most recently when Nicolas Roy scored in Toronto 23 seconds into the opening period. The Golden Knights are outscoring opponents 23-9 in the first period and lead the NHL in most first-period goals scored. Vegas is 10-2-0 when they scores first and 8-2-0 when leading after the first period.

Stingy Knights
The Golden Knights’ goaltender tandem of Logan Thompson and Adin Hill is one of the best in the NHL, as Vegas is fourth in team defense, allowing just 2.46 goals per game. Thompson and Hill’s combined save percentage of .916 is fourth in the league. Last season, the Golden Knights ranked 15th in the league in team defense (2.98 goals allowed per game). Thompson is second in the league in wins (9) behind Boston’s Linus Ullmark (12). Thompson was the first of only two other goaltenders in the NHL to have two shutouts so far this season. If Thomspon wins his next game, he will tie the franchise record for least amount of games played to reach 10 wins. Marc-Andre Fleury (10-3-0) and Robin Lehner (10-1-2) both reached 10 wins in 13 games during the 2020-21 season. Hill saw his second loss of the season after Vegas fell to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Hill stopped 31 of 34 shots on the night, posting a .912 save percentage. Hill stands 5-1-1, with a save percentage of .909 and 2.55 goals-against average for the season.

Against the Canucks
Vegas’ contest with Vancouver marks the first of three meetings this season. The Golden Knights own an overall record of 10-1-3 against the Canucks and have not lost in regulation at Rogers Arena. The last time these two teams faced off, Vegas came back from a two goal deficit in the third period only to fall in overtime 5-4, despite outshooting Vancouver 45 to 27. Shea Theodore was the point leader of the contest with the two goals in the third followed by, Alec Martinez (1G,1A), and Michael Amadio also had a goal. HUGHES’ HELPING HANDS
Picking up a power play assist to extend his personal assist streak to 10 games (0-13-13) on Nov. 13 at BOS, Quinn Hughes passed Jiri Bubla (1983.84) for the second-longest assist streak by a defenceman in Canucks history. He is only one of two Canuck defencemen to ever hit a double-digit streak, being one game short of tying Dennis Kearns for the franchise record (11 games in 1976.77).

• Hughes’ next assist will also mark the 163rd of his career and will break a tie with Sami Salo for 9th-most assists by a defenceman in team history.

HARD HITTING SCHENN
Matching his personal career-high and the Canucks franchise-high (set by himself) with 12 hits on Nov. 12 at TOR, Luke Schenn became the first player in NHL history to record at least three games with 12+ hits in his career. With 2,921 career hits, Schenn is only 30 hits away from tying Brooks Orpik (2,946) for most in League-history by a defencemen. Schenn has collected the most hits in the NHL this season (81 in 18 GP).

BO’S BLAZING START
Scoring his team-leading 14th goal on Nov. 15 at BUF, Bo Horvat tied Darcy Rota (1983.84) and Greg Adams (1987.88) for fourth-most goals through the first 17 games of a season in Canucks history, trailing only Alexander Mogilny (15, 1995.96), Pavel Bure (17, 1992.93) and Tony Tanti (17, 1983.84).

• Scoring his sixth power play goal of the season, Horvat surpassed Ryan Kesler and Henrik Sedin for 9th most power play goals in franchise history (62).

• Tallying eight goals in five games (Oct. 28-Nov. 8), Horvat tied Mikael Samuelsson (2009.10) and Alexandre Burrows (2009.10) as the only Canucks to do so in the last 26 years.

• Horvat is also the first player in franchise history to have five multi-goal games in the first 13 games.

Picking up an assist on J.T. Miller’s first period goal on Nov. 5 vs NSH, Bo Horvat recorded his 200th career assist, become the 22nd Canuck in team history to hit that mark.

HATS OFF TO KUZ
Recording a hat-trick with three goals, including the game-winner, on Nov. 3 vs ANA, Andrei Kuzmenko became just the fourth Russian-born skater in Canucks history to record a hat-trick, joining Pavel Bure (9x), Alexander Mogilny (4x), and Igor Larionov (2x). The winger became the fourth Canucks player in the past 20 years to record three goals in a single frame joining Horvat (Oct. 22/19), Mikael Samuelsson (Mar. 9/10) and Markus Naslund (Oct. 21/02).

FIVE-POINT PETEY
Posting one goal and four assists on Nov. 3 vs ANA, Elias Pettersson recorded his third career five-point game, joining Alexander Mogilny as the only other player in Canucks history to do so. He currently leads the team in assists (10) and points (15) in 11 games so far this season.
