GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
November 26 – Vegas Golden Knights 1, Vancouver Canucks 5
The Vegas Golden Knights (16-6-1) fell to the Vancouver Canucks (8-10-3), 5-1, on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. Jonathan Marchessault scored the lone goal for the Golden Knights as they debuted their Reverse Retro uniforms.

LAST GAME BY THE NUMBERS

  • Marchessault scores his eighth goal of the season
  • Vegas drops to 16-6-1 overall and 7-5-0 at home

Hey Shea!
Shea Theodore has recorded five points over the course of Vegas’ last five games (0-5—5) and ranks 12th amongst defensemen in the league in points so far this season (17). Theodore has had four multi-point games, second to Pietrangelo (six) for the most multi-point games by a Golden Knights defenseman this season.

Road Trip Warriors
The VGK road record stands at 9-1-1, the best road record in the NHL. 19 of Vegas’ 33 points have come on the road, including the 10 straight points the Golden Knights brought home after going 5-0-0 as the visiting team earlier this month. With their ninth win on enemy ice coming in Vancouver, the Golden Knights will look to extend it to 10 in Columbus on Monday night.

Jack of all Trades
Jack Eichel has points in 12 of the last 15 games for Vegas (8G-11A), including multiple-point efforts. His 26 points are tied for the seventh most in the league and his +16 rating is tops among all NHL forwards (third overall).

Martinez Block Party
Golden Knights defenseman Alec Martinez leads the NHL with 99 blocked shots in 23 games this season. Martinez has led the team in blocked shots in 16 of 23 games. After snapping his 114-game streak with at least one blocked shot on Wednesday, Martinez recorded 7 blocked shots in the first period on Friday against Seattle. Martinez also recently recorded a season high of nine blocked shots against the San Jose Sharks on November 15, matching his career high and the franchise record, which he shares with Deryk Engelland.

Aye-Aye Captain!
Captain Mark Stone matched his career-best goal streak with tallies in four straight games (5G-1A). Stone’s nine goals on the year are two off Jack Eichel’s team lead and he is fourth on the team in scoring with 18 points.

O from the D
Vegas defensemen have accounted for an NHL-leading 50 assists and 58 points total, which trail only San Jose. Both Alex Pietrangelo (T-4
th, 21 points) and Shea Theodore (12th, 17 points) are among the top 15 defensemen in scoring league-wide.

The Shorty King
Reilly Smith netted his third shorthanded goal of the season against St. Louis on November 12. Smith leads the league with his three shorties and Vegas is tied for first as the team with the most short handed goals this season with four. His 11 shorthanded goals since joining Vegas in 2017-18 are the most in franchise history.

Easy Steph-y
Chandler Stephenson has 19 points in Vegas’ 23 games, to go with three game-winning goals. Stephenson’s 63.8 faceoff win percentage ranks second in the NHL among all qualified skaters. Stephenson has recorded a point in five straight games twice this season including seven assists during his most recent point streak.

Spreading the Wealth
Nine Golden Knights have recorded 10 or more points this season, tied with four other teams for the most of any team in the league. Jack Eichel leads the club with 26 points, followed by Alex Pietrangleo with 21 points and Chandler Stephenson with 19 points.

Golden Knights Point Leaders

  1. Jack Eichel – 26 (11G, 15A)
  2. Alex Pietrangelo – 21 (3G, 18A)
  3. Chandler Stephenson – 19 (6G, 13A)
  4. Mark Stone – 18 (9G, 9A)
  5. Jonathan Marchessault – 17 (8G, 9A)
    Shea Theodore – 17 (3G, 14A)

Stingy Knights
The Golden Knights’ goaltender tandem of Logan Thompson and Adin Hill is one of the best in the NHL, as Vegas is seventh in team defense, allowing just 2.64 goals per game. Thompson is second in the league in wins (11) behind Boston’s Linus Ullmark (13). Thompson and Hill’s combined save percentage of .912 is sixth in the league. Last season, the Golden Knights ranked 15th in the league in team defense (2.98 goals allowed per game).

Against the Blue Jackets
Vegas’ contest with Columbus is the first of two meetings this season. The Golden Knights own a 3-5-0 record against the Blue Jackets, and went 1-1-0 in their series in 2021-22. Vegas has only won once at Nationwide Arena, on Nov. 5, 2019, in four trips. In their last meeting, the Golden Knights fell to the Blue Jackets in Columbus, 6-4, despite seeing scoring from Jonathan Marchessault, William Carrier, and Jack Eichel. Eichel owns 17 points (6-11—17) in 16 meetings against the Blue Jackets in his career.

BLUE JACKETS NOTES
HOME IN NOVEMBER
The Blue Jackets fell for a second consecutive game following a 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Friday. The club is now 4-3-1 in the last eight games overall and 4-3-0 in their past seven home games. Friday’s game concluded a stretch of eight consecutive games against Eastern Conference teams (4-2-1). The club, which had its game on Saturday at Nashville postponed due to flooding at Bridgestone Arena, plays its next two games against Western Conference teams; against Vegas on Monday and at Winnipeg on Friday. Monday’s game vs. the Golden Knights wraps up a now season-high seven-game homestand for the Blue Jackets (3-3-0).

TWO DIFFERENT STRETCHES
Nine of the club’s first 12 games were competed against teams that made the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including facing off against the Stanley Cup champion Avalanche twice and Stanley Cup finalist once (Tampa Bay Lightning). The club is now in the middle of a stretch of 11-of-13 contests from November 10-December 7 played against teams that failed to make the postseason. The only playoff teams over the second stretch are Florida (Nov. 20) and Pittsburgh (Dec. 6).

FROM THE BLUELINE
CBJ blueliners have collected 7-19-26 in the last 14 outings and 11-25-36 in 20 games this season to rank eighth-T in the NHL in goals. Defenseman Erik Gudbranson tallied two assists on Nov. 17 vs. MTL for his first multi-point game as a Blue Jacket as well as his third career multi-assist and seventh career multi-point effort. He became the fifth different defenseman in NHL history to score each of his first two or more goals of a season in overtime and is also one off the franchise record for overtime goals by a defenseman in a single season (3; Seth Jones, 2016-17 & 2018-19).

ROOKIE REPORT
The club currently has eight rookies on the roster with forwards Trey Fix-Wolansky, Liam Foudy, Kent Johnson and Carson Meyer along with defensemen Nick Blankenburg, Marcus Bjork and Jake Christiansen and goaltender Daniil Tarasov. The skaters have had a strong start to the season, combining for 8-14-22 in 20 games, including posting 1-2-3 on Friday vs. the Islanders. They have helped CBJ rank second-T among NHL teams in goals and fifth in points. Johnson, who notched his first career multi-point game on Friday with one goal and one assist, ranks third-T among NHL rookies in goals, points and points-per-game (.65; min. 10 GP) with 5-6-11 in 17 games. He has registered 2-3-5 in his last six outings and 5-5-10 in his past 14 contests played. Bjork, who recorded an assist on Friday, now has 0-2-2 in the past three games (overall 1-3-4 in seven GP). The blueliner tallied points in his first two NHL games after scoring his first career goal in his NHL debut on Nov. 12 at NY Islanders and picking up his first career assist on Nov. 15 vs. Philadelphia. He is the first blueliner and seventh player overall in franchise history to score in his debut.

CAPTAIN BOONE JENNER
Boone Jenner had his four-game points streak (4-2-6 from Nov. 15-20) and six-game home points streak (7-2-9 from Nov. 5-20) snapped on Wednesday vs. Montreal and now has 7-3-10 in the last nine contests overall. The forward ranks eighth-T in the NHL in goals scored at home this season with 8-5-13 in 14 outings and is 16th-T in goals scored in the month of November (seven). He also ranks eighth in the NHL in faceoff wins (246-of-434 faceoffs; 56.7 pct.). The 29-year-old, who was selected 37th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft, is the longest-tenured Blue Jacket in his 10th season with the club, including his second as the team’s captain. The forward skated in his 600th career game on Nov. 4 vs. Colorado, becoming just the third player to reach the milestone with the franchise. With his second goal on Nov.15 vs. Philadelphia, Jenner notched his 150th career goal with the Blue Jackets and became the third player to reach the milestone with the franchise, joining Rick Nash (289) and Cam Atkinson (213). He also ranks fifth on the franchise’s all-time list in points (298).

Zach Werenski recorded his first multi-point game of the season with 1-1-2 in a win over Philadelphia on Nov. 10 to extend his points-streak to three-straight games (1-3-4) before leaving the with an upper body injury.
