GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
November 8 – Vegas Golden Knights 4, Toronto Maple Leafs 3 OT
Reilly Smith scored the game-tying goal and the game-winning goal as the Vegas Golden Knights (12-2-0) erased a third-period deficit to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs (7-4-3), 4-3, in overtime on Tuesday night at Scotiabank Arena. Less than a minute into the contest, Nicolas Roy buried the game’s first goal to give Vegas a 1-0 lead. Timothy Liljegren evened the score before Jack Eichel’s late tally that sent the Golden Knights into the first intermission ahead, 2-1. Mitch Marner and Liljegren both scored in the middle frame and the Maple Leafs carried a 3-2 lead into the third. Smith buried a shorthanded goal midway through the third period and the teams skated into overtime level at 3-3. Just 23 seconds into the extra session, Shea Theodore fed Smith for the game-winner as the Golden Knights kept their perfect road trip intact. With the win, Vegas sweeps Toronto in a season series for the first time and posts their first win in Scotiabank Arena.

Hometown Hero
Reilly Smith was the hero for the Golden Knights in an overtime victory against his hometown team, the Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. Smith posted two key goals for Vegas as he tallied the tying and game-winning goal to seal the Golden Knights’ first-ever victory at Scotiabank Arena. Smith’s multi-goal performance is his second of the season and he has now scored two goals in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. Smith has posted seven goals this season, three on the powerplay, two short-handed, and two at even strength. Smith has scored a goal in Vegas’ last three games, and he skated in his 700th career game on Tuesday.
Comeback Kids
The Vegas Golden Knights recorded their league-leading fourth third-period comeback win of the season, and their second comeback overtime game of the road trip, on Tuesday night in Toronto. Vegas has outscored their opponents 17-12 in the third period on the season and have won three straight overtimes.

Vegas has won eight in a row, tied for its second longest streak since winning a franchise record 10 straight from April 9 to 28, 2021. The Golden Knights are the first team to reach 12 victories this season, and the 12-2-0 start is the best in franchise history. The team’s 7-1-0 road start is also its best.
First Things First
Nicolas Roy’s opening goal in the first period at Toronto marked the tenth time Vegas has scored first against their opponent. The Golden Knights have scored seven times in the first five minutes of the first period through 14 games, including Roy’s goal on Tuesday at Toronto which came 23 seconds into the opening period. The Golden Knights are outscoring opponents 19-6 in the first period and lead the NHL in most first-period goals scored and second fewest first-period goals allowed (tied). Vegas is 9-1-0 when they score first and 7-1-0 when leading after the first period.

Jack of All Trades
Jack Eichel extended his point streak to six games with a goal in Toronto on Tuesday (3G, 4A). Eichel leads Vegas in points with 15 in 14 games (6G, 9A). The forward has recorded at least one point in 10 of Vegas’ 14 games, including five multi-point games. Eichel has proven himself to be a threat in 3v3 play, recording a point in two of the team’s three overtime wins on the 2022-23 season. Eichel’s goal against Winnipeg marked his first overtime goal as a Golden Knight and his third game-winning goal with the club.
Stingy Knights
The Golden Knights’ goaltender tandem of Logan Thompson and Adin Hill is the best in the NHL, as Vegas leads in team defense, allowing just 2.13 goals per game. Thompson and Hill’s combined save percentage of .928 is second in the league. Last season, the Golden Knights ranked 15th in the league in team defense (2.98 goals allowed per game). Thompson is second in the league in wins (7) behind Boston’s Linus Ullmark (9), and he has won his last five, tying his career best of consecutive games won. On Tuesday in Toronto, Thompson made 28 saves, posting a .903 save percentage to secure his third overtime win of the season.
Hill remains unbeaten after Vegas’ victory against Montreal on Saturday night. Hill stopped 27 of 31 shots on the night, posting a .871 save percentage. Hill stands 5-0-0, with a save percentage of .925 and 2.17 goals-against average for the season. Hill becomes the first goaltender to earn wins in each of his first five appearances with a franchise since last season, when three netminders accomplished the feat (Frederik Andersen CAR: 8-0-0, Spencer Knight FLA: 6-0-0, Charlie Lindgren STL: 5-0-0). He currently stands tied with Vitek Vanecek of New Jersey for the longest active win streak among goals in three or more consecutive starts.

Vegas Golden Knights head equipment manager Chris Davidson-Adams will work his 1,500th professional hockey game Thursday at KeyBank Center. Davidson-Adams joined the Golden Knights the year prior to the team’s debut and has been in his position for all six years the team has been in the NHL.
Making the Minutes Count
Alex Pietrangelo has consistently been the leader in time-on-ice for the Golden Knights so far this season (TOI leader 12 of 14 games). The defenseman averages 23:31 minutes of ice time per game. Pietrangelo leads the Golden Knights in assists with ten, which is tied third of any defenseman and tied for 19 th amongst all skaters in the NHL through Sunday’s games. On Nov. 1, Pietrangelo (0-3- 3) factored on all three goals in an overtime thriller against Washington, including the game-tying tally and overtime winner, to record his 397th career assist, surpassing Mark Giordano (395) for the ninth-most assists among active defensemen. The Golden Knights are 6-0-0 when Pietrangelo records a point.

Captain Mark Stone notched his fourth goal of the season top open the scoring on Nov. 3 at Ottawa. Stone has totaled 11 points (4G, 7A) this season, recording at least a point in eight of the first 14 games. His fast offensive start has included the game-winning goal in the season opener and his 300th career assist Oct. 22 vs. Colorado.
The Iron Man
Phil Kessel appeared in his 990th consecutive game on October 25th against the San Jose Sharks. This broke Keith Yandle’s all-time record for the most consecutive games played in NHL history. Additionally, Kessel scored his 400th career goal in the first period to become the 12th American-born player to score 400 NHL goals. Kessel joined the Golden Knights roster in August after skating for two seasons with the Coyotes. A two-time Stanley Cup champion (2015-16, 2016-17), Kessel has 961 points (400 G, 510 A) in 1,218 career NHL games. He ranks eighth among active players in career games played and tenth in career points. Kessel’s streak started when he was a Maple Leaf in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Nov. 3, 2009. The only players from that game that are still active are Luke Schenn (VAN), Victor Hedman (TBL), and Steven Stamkos (TBL). Alec Martinez and Alex Pietrangelo are the only members of the Golden Knights who had started their NHL careers when Kessel’s streak began. Of all other skaters on the Golden Knights, the next longest active streak belongs to William Karlsson, who has skated in 73 consecutive games. For Karlsson to tie Kessel’s streak he would have to play in every game from now until the 28th game of the 2033- 34 season. Throughout his streak, Kessel has dressed for four different franchises Toronto (446), Pittsburgh (328), Arizona (208), and Vegas (14). In his 996 games, Kessel has recorded 334 goals and 501 assists for a combined 835 points.
Against the Sabres
This marks the first of two meetings between Vegas and Buffalo for the 2022-23 season. The Golden Knights hold an all-time record of 5-3-0 against the Sabres in eight meetings. The last time Vegas was in Buffalo, the club fell 3-1, with the lone goal belonging to defenseman Ben Hutton. The Golden Knights will look to secure their first win at KeyBank Center since Mar. 10, 2018.
