April 6 – Vegas Golden Knights 5, Los Angeles Kings 2
Chandler Stephenson led the way with three points (1-2—3) as the Vegas Golden Knights (49-22-8) defeated the Los Angeles Kings (45-24-10), 5-2, on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena. Less than a minute after the Kings had a goal called back due to an offside, Phil Kessel found the back of the net to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 2:54 of the first. Ivan Barbashev, Chandler Stephenson and Nicolas Roy added goals of their own as Vegas carried a commanding 4-0 lead into the first intermission. Jonathan Marchessault scored 1:02 into the second to make it a 5-0 game, but the Kings tacked on two goals as Vegas held the 5-2 lead through 40 minutes. The third period passed by without a goal as the Golden Knights earned the 5-2 victory.
LAST GAME BY THE NUMBERS
- The line of Kessel, Barbashev, and Stephenson all found the back of the net within three minutes of each other in the opening period to put Vegas up 3-0
- Stephenson registered his second three-point game of the season, all of which came in the first period
- Barbashev posted his fourth multi-point performance after 20 games in a Vegas jersey
- Jack Eichel’s assist on Roy’s goal extends his assist streak to eight games for the second-longest assist streak by a Golden Knights player

The Golden Knights are currently battling for first place in the Pacific Division (3x previously) and Western Conference (1x previously). Vegas leads both the division and conference with 106 points, closely followed by Edmonton (103 points) and Los Angeles (100 points) for both titles. The Golden Knights can clinch home-ice for round one of the postseason if they get at least one point in Dallas.
Against the Stars
Saturday’s meeting marks the third and final this season with Dallas. The Golden Knights are 8-3-2 all-time against the Stars and 5-1-1 when at American Airlines Center. The last time these two teams met, Vegas fell in a shootout, 3-2, at T-Mobile Arena. Michael Amadio scored in the second period to give Vegas a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Wyatt Johnson knotted the game for the Stars at 1-1. In the final period, Jack Eichel gave the Golden Knights a 2-1 edge with 4:36 to play. Roope Hintz then tied the game at 2-2 to send it to overtime. In the shootout, Vegas went scoreless, while Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz converted for Dallas to win it. The Golden Knights will look to level the series as they trail, 0-1-1 this season against the Stars.

Led by Joe Pavelski’s three-point night (1-2—3), the Stars scored four unanswered goals and never looked back in a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in front of a sellout crowd of 18,532 at American Airlines Center on Thursday. Pavelski extended his goal streak to five consecutive games and became the fourth player in NHL history to record a five-game goal streak at age 38 or older. Jason Robertson (2-0—2) potted two goals for his fourth consecutive multi-point game, while Colin Miller (1-0—1) lit the lamp for the second consecutive game and third time in his past five overall. Jamie Benn (0-1—1), Wyatt Johnston (0-1—1), Evgenii Dadonov (0-1—1), Tyler Seguin (0-1—1) and defenseman Miro Heiskanen (0-1—1) added assists, while goaltender Jake Oettinger improved to 34-11-11 with a 24-save performance.

TODAY’S GAME: The Stars close out their three-game homestand against the Western Conference-leading Vegas Golden Knights this afternoon at American Airlines Center. (2:30 p.m. CT, TV: ABC, Radio: The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). Much like the Stars are fighting for supremacy in the Central Division, the Golden Knights are neck and neck the Edmonton Oilers for the top spot in the Pacific. This is the third and final meeting between the Stars and Golden Knights in the regular season, which has seen Dallas take the first two. Following today’s game, the Stars will hit the road for games Monday at Detroit and Wednesday at St. Louis before wrapping up the 2022-23 regular season next Thursday against St. Louis.
