VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS NOTES:
AGAINST THE DUCKS
The Vegas Golden Knights will face the Anaheim Ducks for the second time this season. Vegas holds an all-time record of 23-5-1 in 29 meetings with Anaheim, their best record against any opponent aside from Seattle (8-1-0) and San Jose (21-2-5). Last season, Vegas held a 2-0-1 advantage over Anaheim and have not lost at home to the Ducks since Feb. 11, 2021 (4-0-0 since). The last time these teams met, the Golden Knights defeated the Ducks, 4-1, on Oct. 14 at T-Mobile Arena. Golden Knights center Jack Eichel opened the scoring on the power play with just one second remaining in the first frame. Eichel’s goal marked Vegas’ first power-play goal of the season. In the middle frame, Chandler Stephenson found the back of the net after a give-and-go play with Paul Cotter to extend Vegas’ lead to two. At the 6:16 mark of the third period, Shea Theodore’s shot from the blue line gave the Golden Knights their second power-play goal of the game to triple the home team’s lead. Mason McTavish put Anaheim on the board but Jonas Rondbjerg scored on the empty net to secure Vegas’ third straight 4-1 victory. Vegas goaltender Logan Thompson has a perfect 1.00 career save percentage against Anaheim’s roster with the exception of two goals allowed in a shootout.
STREAKING
The Golden Knights remained in the win column on Saturday night, improving to 11-0-1 on the season. Vegas became the 10 th team in NHL history to post a season-opening point streak of at least 12 games and the first in a decade since the 2012-13 Blackhawks (24 GP). The Golden Knights’ season-opening point streak is the longest by a reigning Stanley Cup champion in NHL history. The Golden Knights have collected a point in 20 straight regular-season games dating back to Mar. 30 of last season. Only one team has posted a longer streak over the past 40 years (Chicago 30 GP from 2011-12 to 2012-13).
POWER PLAY PROWESS
Jonathan Marchessault and Ivan Barbashev each scored power-play goals against Winnipeg. It was the fourth time this season that the Golden Knights have cashed in on the power play multiple times in a game. All of last season, Vegas had multiple power-play goals in a game eight times. The Golden Knights have scored 11 goals on the mad-advantage this season, the fifth most in the NHL.
EXTRA HOCKEY
The Golden Knights have gone into overtime or a shootout four times this season (3-1 in those games). Most recently, Vegas defeated Los Angeles and Montreal in shootouts but fell to Chicago from a Blackhawks power-play goal in overtime. The Golden Knights own a 23-17 (.575 win percentage) shootout record all-time, the third best record in the NHL since the 2017-18 season. Adin Hill and Logan Thompson have both appeared in Vegas’ shootout wins this season. Hill and Thompson own career shootout save records of .712 and .816 respectively

TONIGHT’S GAME: The Anaheim Ducks host the second contest of a five-game homestand tonight vs. the Vega Golden Knights at Honda Center (5 p.m. PT, TV: Bally Sports SoCal, AUDIO: Ducks Stream). Anaheim enters tonight’s game with five straight wins, the longest current win streak in the NHL and the Ducks’ first such win streak since eight consecutive victories Oct. 31 to Nov. 16, 2021. Anaheim has scored 33 goals the first 10 games, the most in the first 10 games of a season in franchise history, surpassing the 32 scored in both 2012-13 and 2013-14. The Ducks have also scored five PPG the last three games (5-9, 55.6%), with multiple PPG in two of the last three contests. The Ducks continue their 14-game November schedule, posting a 157-136-66 record in the month all-time in addition to earning points in 74 of 114 games the last 10 seasons (.650%). Following tonight’s game, the Ducks will continue the homestand when they host Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Nov. 7 (7 p.m. PT).
THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT: The Ducks are carrying the most 20-and-under players in the NHL this season. Anaheim has three players in the top-10 in scoring among players 20-and-under with a combined 23 points. Mason McTavish (20) leads all NHL players 20-andunder in points (5-7=12, +6), goals and plus/minus, and tied for the lead in assists. He also leads players 21-and-under in points. He is the only player to rank in the top-100 of league scoring with four more points than any other player 18-20 years old. Pavel Mintyukov (19) leads all defensemen 19 and younger in points (1-6=7, +4), assists and plus/minus, while he is tied for third in points among players 20-and-under. Leo Carlsson (18) ranks ninth with 3-1=4 points (+2). Columbus is the only other club with two players in the top-10, combining for 10 totals points.
CARDIAC COMEBACKS: Anaheim has an NHL-leading four wins this season after trailing in the third period, all having come during the last five games. The four comeback wins are tied for the most by any team in NHL history through the first 10 games of a season, joining CBJ (2021-22), TBL (2013-14), DET (2008-09) and TOR (1934-35). The Ducks became the 10th team in NHL history to score twice in the final two minutes of regulation with the goalie pulled to win the game Oct. 26 @ BOS, scoring two goals in the final 1:55 of regulation, both with the sixth attacker (6-on-5). This marked the first time in club history (regular season or playoffs) the Ducks have won a game when trailing by multiple goals with less than two minutes left in regulation. Anaheim is also the third NHL team the last 12 years (last instances in 2011-12) to score two such goals with the sixth attacker in a road game. * Goalie movement officially began being tracked during the 1997-98 season. Anaheim’s three comeback wins in a span of four games Oct. 24-30 marked the third time in club history the team has done so. The only prior instances came March 15-20, 2015 and March 20-26, 2011. Only 82 instances in NHL history have clubs won three games in a span of four contests after trailing in the third period. The Ducks became the 13th team in NHL history to win consecutive road games in OT after trailing in the third period of each contest (last: TBL, Oct. 14, 2021 (7-6 OTW @ DET) and Oct. 16, 2021 (2-1 OTW @ WSH). Anaheim forced OT after trailing by two goals with 1:55 in regulation to earn 4-3 OT victory, Oct. 26 @ BOS. The Ducks also overcame a 2-1, third-period deficit with 3:47 left in regulation and earned a 3-2 OT win Oct. 24 @ CBJ.
