THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
• Tonight is Seattle’s third of seven consecutive games that they will play on the road. Their seven-game road trip is their longest
such stretch of the season and will conclude on Jan. 14 at Chicago. The team’s current stretch of seven road games are the most consecutive games they have played on the road in franchise history.

• The Kraken enter tonight’s game against Ottawa looking to extend their point streak against the Senators to three games. The team has not lost to the Senators in regulation, posting a 1-0-1 record in two meetings last season.

• Tonight’s game is the third of four consecutive games the Kraken will play against Canadian teams. The team defeated the Oilers 5-2 in Edmonton on Jan. 3 and the Maple Leafs 5-1 in Toronto on Jan. 5. They will next take on the Canadiens in Montreal on Monday, Jan. 9. This is the second time in the team’s history that it has played four consecutive games against Canadian teams (last: Feb. 14 to 21, 2022) and the first time that all four of those game have been played in Canada.

• Will Borgen has already set career highs in games played (37), goals (two, tied), assists (eight), points (10), hits (100), blocked shots (43), shifts (856) and total time on ice (578:52). Martin Jones’ 17 wins were tied for the fifth-most in the NHL this season entering play Friday. His next win will surpass his total from the 2019-20 season (17). He has already surpassed his win total from 2021-22 (12) and 2020-21 (15) despite only playing in 27 games this year.

• According to Natural Stat Trick, the Kraken ranked seventh in the NHL with a 52.1 percent Corsi rating entering play Friday. The Kraken are outshooting their opponents 907-791 at five-on-five this season. Their 53.4 percent shot share was good for seventh in the NHL entering play Friday according to Natural Stat Trick.

Brassard opened the scoring for the home side with his first power-play goal of the season and 61st of his career to move into a tie for 55th among all active skaters. Stützle found the back of the net at 7:00 of the second period (as part of a two-point effort). Batherson added his 10th goal with the extra attacker to move into a tie for fifth among all league skaters while Watson provided his second shorthanded goal on the campaign into an empty net. Giroux generated a multi-assist contest for the second consecutive game and third time in his last four. Korpisalo took the loss for the Blue Jackets with 30 saves.
