The Ducks earned a point for the fifth straight game as they completed a two-game road trip and the second of a back-to-back matchup with a 3-2 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks Tuesday night at United Center. Frank Vatrano scored the game-winning goal at 2:15 of overtime, his sixth career OT goal and first as a Duck. The goal marked his fifth the last five games and 12th of the season. John Klingberg recorded two assists for the second time the last three games (0-4=4), including his sixth multi-point effort (fourth multi-assist). Brett Leason (1-1=2, +2) and Jaycob Megna (1-1=2, +2) each recorded two points, with Megna scoring his first goal as a Duck and first since Feb. 9, 2017 w/ VAN @ CBJ. Megna’s two points tied a career high (also Jan. 12, 2017 vs. PHI, 1-1=2). Isac Lundestrom earned the lone assist on Vatrano’s OT goal, his eighth helper in 2022-23. Anthony Stolarz picked up his second straight win and third in his last five starts, his fifth win overall, after stopping 27-of-29 shots in regulation and overtime.

ANAHEIM DUCKS NOTES
TONIGHT’S GAME: The Anaheim Ducks host their first February game tonight when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Honda Center (7 p.m. PT, TV: Bally Sports SoCal AUDIO: Ducks Stream). Anaheim enters tonight’s game with points in a season high five straight contests (4-0-1) in addition to a 5-1-1 record the last seven games (24 goals for) and points in seven of the last nine overall (5-2-2). The Ducks are also 9-9-3 the last 21 contests. Anaheim continues its 11-game February schedule tonight (1-0-1 to date), consisting of four home and seven road contests. All-time, Anaheim is 154-124-35 in the month of February. Since the start of 2012-13, Anaheim is 57-45-13 in the month, earning points in 70 of the 115 contests (.609%). Following tonight’s game, the Ducks will play their second-ever game on Super Bowl Sunday against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena Feb. 12 (12 p.m. PT).

CLUTCH COMEBACKS: Anaheim co-leads the NHL with six multi-goal comeback wins this season (also NJD), while also posting 12 comeback wins overall (six in the third period; three one-goal, three two-goal comebacks). Anaheim’s six multi-goal comebacks rank third in franchise history, trailing the nine 2013-14 and eight in 2014-15. The Ducks overcame 3-2 deficit in the third period Jan. 26 @ COL to earn a 5-3 victory, Anaheim’s fifth multi-goal comeback of the season. They also overcame a 3-0 deficit in the first period Jan. 19 @ CBJ to earn a 5-3 win, the fourth time in club history the Ducks have rallied from down three goals (or more) to win on the road (second regulation) and 11th overall. The only other such road win in regulation came Dec. 2, 2018 @ Washington (trailed 5-1, won 6-5). Anaheim has recorded five third-period, multi-goal comeback victories in a single regular season just two times in franchise history (six in 2014-15 and five in 2009-10 & five in 2013-14).

DUCKS-PENGUINS: Anaheim and Pittsburgh wrap up a two-game season series tonight at Honda Center. All-time, the Ducks own a 15-22-4 record vs. the Penguins. In Orange County, the Ducks are 10-8-1 vs. the Penguins, earning standings points in 10 of its last 15 home contests in the series (9-5-1). The Penguins earned a 4-3 OT win Jan. 17 to open the 2022-23 series at PPG Paints Arena. Trevor Zegras tallied a goal and an assist in the contest (1-1=2). In the 2021-22 season series, Pittsburgh earned a 1-0 win in the first matchup of the season Dec. 11 at PPG Paints Arena despite John Gibson and Anthony Stolarz combining to stop 29-of-30 shots. Pittsburgh also picked up a 4-1 at Honda Center Jan. 11 behind two-goal contests from Evgeni Malkin (2-1=3) and Jeff Carter (2-0=2). Pittsburgh native John Gibson has faced the Penguins on 12 prior occasions, posting a 5-6-1 record, including a 3-2-1 record in Anaheim. He earned a 29-save shutout over the Penguins Dec. 23, 2017. He is also 4-4-0 his last eight appearances vs. the Penguins. Adam Henrique (10-10=20 in 35 GP) paces active Ducks skaters in career points, assists and goals vs. Pittsburgh. Frank Vatrano has tallied 9-4=13 points in 17 career contests vs. the Penguins.

RAKELL RETURNS: Tonight marks the first time Penguins forward Rickard Rakell visits Honda Center as an opposing player. Selected by Anaheim in the first round (30th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, he spent parts of 10 seasons with Anaheim, tallying 154- 185=339 points in 550 games from 2012-2022. He also appeared in 46 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Ducks, scoring 11-8=19 points. Among the franchise’s all-time leaders, Rakell ranks seventh in points (154-185=339) and goals, eighth in assists, second in overtime goals (7) and fifth in game-winning goals (27).
