GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
January 2 – Vegas Golden Knights 3, Colorado Avalanche 2
The Vegas Golden Knights (26-12-2) defeated the Colorado Avalanche (19-14-3), 3-2, on Monday night at Ball Arena. Nathan MacKinnon got Colorado on the board less than a minute into the game, but Michael Amadio’s late tally sent the teams into the break level at 1-1. Nicolas Roy took over in the second period as he scored two goals to give Vegas a 3-1 lead through 40 minutes. Mikko Rantanen scored in the third, but the Golden Knights skated away with the 3-2 win.

Vegas’ contest with Pittsburgh is the second of two meetings this season. The Golden Knights own a 3-6-0 record against the Penguins, and dropped their last meeting, 4-3, on Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh. In the previous contest, Jack Eichel and Reilly Smith scored to give Vegas the lead early but Pittsburgh leveled the score to enter the third period tied. Shea Theodore scored on the power play but with quick back-to-back goals, the Penguins secured the 4-3 win.
