2022 GLOBAL SERIES RECAP
Columbus plays for the first time on Thursday since returning from the 2022 Global Series against the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland from November 4-5, going 0-2-0 in the series. The trip marked the second time the Blue Jackets have played games in Europe. The club opened the 2010-11 season with a pair of games against the San Jose Sharks at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden as part of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere.

NICE TO SEE YOU, NOVEMBER
The Blue Jackets’ game against the Flyers on Thursday kicks off a stretch of seven-of-eight games played at Nationwide Arena from November 10-25. The lone game played out of the state of Ohio is Saturday’s game at the NY Islanders. Thursday’s contest also begins a stretch of three-straight games against Metropolitan Division foes and eight consecutive vs. Eastern Conference division opponents.

TWO DIFFERENT STRETCHES
Nine of the club’s first 12 games were competed against teams that made the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including facing off against the Stanley Cup champion Avalanche twice and Stanley Cup finalist once (Tampa Bay Lightning). The next five games – and seven of the next eight – will be played against teams that failed to make the postseason.

TORTS’ RETURN
Thursday’s game against Philadelphia sees the return of former Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella to Nationwide Arena for the first time. He was hired as the Flyers’ bench boss this past summer after serving as an analyst for ESPN in 2021-22. Tortorella is the
winningest coach in club history, guiding the team to a 227-166-54 record (.568 pt. pct.) in 447 games from 2015-21 and led the club to four-straight playoff appearances from 2016-20, including a historic sweep over pthe Presidents’ Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2019 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. It will be a reunion of sorts behind the benches as Tortorella, along with current Flyers associate coach Brad Shaw, and CBJ head coach Brad Larsen served as one staff from 2016-21.

HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT
The Blue Jackets, in partnership with OhioHealth, present Hockey Fight’s Cancer Night on Tuesday, November 15 when the club hosts the Philadelphia Flyers at Nationwide Arena. The club will honor those who have experienced or are currently battling cancer. All fans in
attendance will receive a HFC rally towel, have the opportunity to fill out “I fight for __” cards and are encouraged to wear lavender to show their support.

THE COMEBACK BLUE JACKETS
Columbus earned victories when trailing by multiple goals in back-to-back wins over Vancouver (2-0) on Oct. 18 and Nashville (2-0 and 3-1) on Oct. 20. It was the fifth time in franchise history that the team has earned consecutive multi-goal comeback wins (MR: Feb. 8-10, 2022). These victories have a familiar feeling to the club’s wins in 2021-22 when CBJ set a franchise record after coming back at some point in the game in 23 of their 37 wins. The club finished sixth in the NHL in comeback victories last season. The team also trailed only Florida (11) with nine come-from-behind victories when trailing heading into the third period.

ROOKIE REPORT
The club’s rookies, consisting of forwards Liam Foudy and Kent Johnson along with defenseman Nick Blankenburg have had a strong start to the season, combining for 4-7-11 in 12 games. They have helped CBJ rank firth-T among NHL teams in goals and seventh-T in points. Johnson, who was selected fifth overall at the 2021 NHL Draft, ranks fourth-T among NHL rookies in goals and ninth-T in points with 3-3-6 in 11 games. He has registered 3-2-5 in the past eight contests, including recording goals in three-straight games from Oct. 22-25 (3-0-3) and points in four consecutive outings from Oct. 20-25 (3-1-4).

CAPTAIN BOONE JENNER
Boone Jenner, who scored the Blue Jackets’ lone goal vs. Colorado on Saturday, has recorded 2-4-6 in 12 games this season and ranks 10th in the NHL in faceoff wins (142-of-250 faceoffs; 56.8 pct.).The 29-year-old, who was selected 37th overall at the 2011 NHL
Draft, is the longest-tenured Blue Jacket in his 10th season with the club, including his second as the team’s captain. The forward skated in his 600th career game on Friday vs. Colorado, becoming just the third player to reach the milestone with the franchise. He also ranks third on the franchise’s all-time list in goals and fifth in points with 146-144-290.
