Battling back from a one-goal deficit in their final game of the road trip, the Stars earned their first regulation victory of the season on Thursday night against Anaheim. Defenseman Miro Heiskanen (1-2—3) tied his career high for points in a game and notched his ninth career game-winning goal to give Dallas five out of a possible six points in its first three contests of the season. Forward Joe Pavelski (1-1—2) tallied his second goal of the 2023-24 campaign as part of a multi-point night, while linemate Roope Hintz (1-0—1) lit the lamp for the first time this season. Forwards Jason Robertson (0-1—1) and Tyler Seguin (0-1—1) picked up assists, while former Ducks first-round pick Sam Steel (0-1—1) earned the primary helper on Heiskanen’s game-winning goal. Dallas finally struck on the power play, going 2-for-5 with the man advantage while remaining perfect on the penalty kill (4-for-4 vs. Anaheim; 11-for-11 overall). Goaltender Jake Oettinger stopped 27 of 29 shots and improved his career mark against the Ducks to 6-0-0 with a 1.64 goals-against average and .940 save percentage.

DALLAS STARS NOTES
TONIGHT’S GAME: After a road trip out West, the Stars are back home to host the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at American Airlines Center. (7 p.m. CT, Bally Sports Southwest, The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). One of two meetings against the Flyers this season, the Stars will visit Wells Fargo Center in late January in the opener of a four-game road trip that will make stops in New Jersey, New York (Islanders) and Detroit. Following tonight’s contest, the Stars will go back on the road for a one-game trip to Pittsburgh on Tuesday before opening a two-game homestand next Thursday against Toronto.
