RECAP/NOTES: The Blueshirts fell in the finale of the four-game homestand to the Islanders, 4-3. The Rangers built a 3-1 lead heading into the third thanks to two power play goals but the Islanders responded with three of their own in the third to earn the win. In the loss, the Blueshirts tallied 40 shots on goal, marking the fifth time this season they have registered at least 40 shots in a game, already surpassing the amount (four) they had last year.
RANGERS RUNDOWN
- The New York Rangers begin a road swing with a matchup against the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in five days (7:00 PM ET – TV: MSG Network – Radio: ESPN 98.7 FM).

• Andrew Copp played for the Rangers at the end of the 2021-22 season following his acquisition at the trade deadline. MIKA’S 700TH GAME
Tonight, Mika Zibanejad is set to play in his 700th career NHL game in Detroit where on October 7, 2011 he made his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators. In those 699 games, Zibanejad has registered 236 goals and 295 assists for 531 points. Zibanejad has played 418 games for the Rangers after playing his first 281 with Ottawa. Zibanejad has recorded a point in 362 of his 699 games (51.8) and scored a goal in 197 of his first 699 games (28.2). Since his first full season in 2012-13, Zibanejad ranks tied for seventh in the NHL in power play goals with 87 and 23rd in the NHL in goals (236). Zibanejad has points in six-straight games (3G-5A) and has notched seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 14 games. When Zibanejad records a point this season, the Rangers are 6-2-1. ALFIE GETS THE CALL
- Daniel Alfredsson will be formally inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, Nov. 14 at Meridian Hall in Toronto, Ontario, along with Herb Carnegie (Builder), Roberto Luongo, Riikka Sallinen, Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin.
- Elected to Hockey Hall of Fame Honored Membership in the Player Category on June 27.

BIG VILLE STYLE
Detroit acquired goaltender Ville Husso from St. Louis in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft (Aleksanteri Kaskimäki) on July 8 and subsequently signed him to a three-year contract extension with an average annual value of $4.75 million.
- Became the eighth goaltender to win at least five of his first seven appearances in a Red Wings uniform; only Ty Conklin (6-1-0 in 2008-09), Dominik Hasek (6-1-0 in 2001-02), Manny Legace (6-1-0 from 1999-00 to 2000-01) and Vincent Riendeau (6-0-0 from 1991-92 to 1992-93) have done so in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68).
- Also the fifth goaltender in franchise history to record two shutouts within his first seven starts with the club, following Kevin Hodson (2 in 5 GS), Wilf Cude (2 in 5 GS), Dolly Dolson (2 in 7 GS) and Hap Holmes (2 in 4 GS).
- Stopped all 29 shots he faced in his Red Wings debut on Oct. 14 vs. Montreal, becoming the second goalie in franchise history to post a shutout in his team debut, joining Dave Gatherum who did so on Oct. 11, 1953 vs. Toronto.
EARLY RETURNS
Detroit forwards Andrew Copp, Austin Czarnik, Dominik Kubalík, Matt Luff and David Perron, and defensemen Ben Chiarot, Robert Hägg and Olli Määttä have made an immediate impact to begin the 2022-23 season. The eight players, all signed as free agents by the Red Wings in July, have combined for 44 points (17-27-44) through the first 13 games of the campaign.
- Ben Chiarot recorded a goal and an assist on Oct. 15 at New Jersey. He also picked up an assist on Nov. 6 against the New York Rangers.
- Andrew Copp has logged five points (1-4-5) in his last five games since Oct. 31 at Buffalo. He scored the game-winning goal and collected an assist on Nov. 3 vs. Washington.
- Austin Czarnik picked up his first goal/point in a Detroit jersey on Nov. 8 vs. Montreal. The Metro Detroit native made his Red Wings debut on Nov. 6 against the New York Rangers, finishing with two shots in 12:45 time on ice.
- Robert Hägg ranks among the team leaders with 26 hits (6th) and 15 blocks (5th). He picked up an assist on Oct. 21 at Chicago and Oct. 25 vs. New Jersey.
- Dominik Kubalík is currently on a four-game point streak, tallying five points (2-3-5) in that span. He paces the Red Wings in assists (10), points (16), power play points (8) and overtime goals (1).
- Matt Luff picked up his first goal/point with Detroit on Nov. 6 against the New York Rangers. He registered seven points (3-4-7) in five appearances with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins to begin the 2022-23 season.
- Olli Määttä ranks second among Detroit blueliners with six points (2-4-6) and a plus-four rating through 13 games. He began the season with a four-game point streak from Oct. 14-21 (1-4-5 in 4 GP), becoming the first Red Wings defenseman to record a point in each of the first four-plus games of the season since Brian Rafalski in 2008-09 (1-8-9 in 7 GP).
- David Perron has totaled eight points (5-3-8) in 13 games. He is also tied with Lucas Raymond for the team lead with two game-winning goals. The 16-year NHL veteran picked up two goals and an assist on Oct. 17 vs. Los Angeles.

- The Red Wings own a 7-3-3 record (17 points), marking the team’s best start through the first 13 games of a season since going 9-3-1 (19 points) to begin the 2010-11 campaign.

- Dylan Larkin enters his third season as Detroit’s captain and eighth NHL campaign. He was named the 37th captain in franchise history on Jan. 13, 2021, becoming the first Michigander and native metro Detroiter to wear the ‘C’ for the Red Wings, assuming a captaincy that had been vacant for two seasons following the end of Henrik Zetterberg’s career in 2017-18 due to injury.
- Authored a five-game point streak from Oct. 29-Nov. 6, logging seven points (2-5-7) in that span.
- With an empty-net goal and an assist on Nov. 3 vs. Washington, he boosted his career totals to 371 points (153-218-371 in 514 GP), passing Johan Franzén (187-183-370 in 602 GP) for 22nd on the franchise’s all-time points list (see list below):

- Dylan Larkin opened the scoring with a power play goal on Oct. 23 vs. Anaheim, marking his 150th career goal in his 509th game with the Red Wings. Among players to debut with the franchise, only four skaters have reached the 150-goal mark in fewer games over the past 25 years: Henrik Zetterberg (350 GP on March 25, 2008), Vyacheslav Kozlov (440 GP on Feb. 21, 1999), Johan Franzen (472 GP on April 7, 2012) and Pavel Datsyuk (477 GP on Dec. 20, 2008).
- Tallied his 153rd career NHL goal on Nov. 3 vs. Washington, passing Ray Sheppard for sole possession of 23rd place on the franchise’s all-time list (see list below):

- Has recorded 55 points in his NHL career (7-48-55 in 95 GP). The only defensemen in franchise history with more points before their 100th career NHL game are Nicklas Lidström (12-58-70 in 99 GP), Reed Larson (21-47-68 in 99 GP) and Yves Racine (11-51-62 in 99 GP).
FIL THE THRILL
- Filip Hronek picked up an assist in his 250th career NHL game on Oct. 23 vs. Anaheim.
- Also recorded his 100th career NHL assist on Dylan Larkin’s power play goal on Oct. 21 at Chicago.
