NHL Preview: New York Islanders (4-2-2) at Washington Capitals (4-3-1)

Islanders forward Casey Cizikas opened the score shorthanded in the second period, and Brock Nelson found the back of the net in the third frame, but the New York Islanders fell to the Detroit Red Wings in overtime, 4-3, Tuesday night at UBS Arena. Bo Horvat scored on the power play, Noah Dobson tallied two assists, and Ilya Sorokin turned aside 32 of 36 shots faced to help the Islanders collect a point for the third straight game. The Islanders finished October with a 3-1-2 record at UBS Arena, and recorded a season-high 40 shots on goal on Monday night.
