TEAM NOTES
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
Tonight, the New York Islanders visit the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth and final matchup between the two clubs this season. The last time these teams met was January 21, at UBS Arena, a 5-2 decision in Carolina’s favor. The Islanders will look to earn a split in their four-game season series with the Hurricanes, and have won each of their last two visits to PNC Arena. The last time they visited Raleigh was October 28, 2022, when Brock Nelson scored twice, and Zach Parise and Matt Martin each found the back of the net in a 6-2 Islander win. The Islanders will also cap off their final back-to-back series of the season tonight, looking to improve to 9-5-1 in back-ends.

BOUNCING BACK
The Islanders were shut out for the sixth time this season in a 5-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at AMALIE Arena. The Islanders have responded to a shutout loss with a victory three times this season (3-1-1), including March 27’s 5-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils.

COMEBACKS
The Islanders have won nine games this season when trailing at some point in the third period, and have won eight games when trailing after two periods, tied for the league-lead (Vancouver). March 21’s win was the 19th time this season the Islanders captured a win after trailing at any point during the game, and they are 15-19-3 when allowing the opening goal.

AGAINST THE METRO
Tonight, the Islanders will look to collect their 16th win of the season against a Metropolitan Division team. They have earned points in seven of their last eight meetings against Metropolitan opponents (6-1-1) since February 7. They are tied with New Jersey for third-most wins against Metropolitan teams this season, and trail only Carolina (18) and Boston (19). The Islanders have captured at least two victories against each Metropolitan Division opponent they have faced these season, except Carolina and the Washington Capitals (one each).
