The last time that the Devils won 10 consecutive games was in 2005-06 via Mar. 28, 2006, to Apr. 16, which extended to 11 games. That 11-game winning streak was also earned in the team’s last 11 regular-season games for the 2005-06 campaign. The Devils improved to 7-0-0 for the month of November, while the most wins earned in the month of November for franchise history is 10 wins: 1997-98 (10-4-0).

The Devils enter Thursday’s contest with an 11-0-0 record when captain Nico Hischier records a point in a game this season. Jersey’s team is 6-0-0 when Jack Hughes scores a goal this season. The 10-game winning streak also marked and tied a career-high for head coach Lindy Ruff. Prior to this run, Ruff earned a 10-game winning streak with Buffalo via Oct. 4, 2006, to Oct. 26, 2006. The last time the Devils were in first place for their division after the team’s first 15 games to start a season was in Nov. of 2017, per NHL Pr.

Jersey’s team is 6-0-0 vs Canadian-based teams this season, and embarks on its second three-game Canadian road trip this season. The Devils swept Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver via Nov. 1, 2022, to Nov. 5, which marked the first time since Dec. of 1996, that the Devils earned a three-game sweep on a Canadian road trip against those teams. The Devils are currently riding a six-game winning on the road via Oct. 20, 2022, to Nov. 16. The last time that the Devils earned a six-game winning streak on the road was Jan. 13, 2017 to Feb. 4, 2017. The team’s longest winning streak on the road in a single season is 10 games: Feb. 27, 2001, to Apr. 7, 2001 (10-0-0). The last time that the Devils lost was on Oct. 24, in a 6-3 loss at the Rock. As of Nov. 16, the Devils ranked first in the NHL in shots against, per game at 24.5, while Carolina ranks second at 26.4. Additionally, as Nov. 16, the Devils are ranked second for shots on goal, per game, at 37.2 behind the Florida Panthers (40.4). Since 1994-95, the franchise’s first Stanley Cup championship, the Devils have finished a season averaging under 25 shots against, per game seven times:

23.7 1997-98
24.7 1998-99
24.7 2000-01
23.2 2001-02
23.6 2002-03
24.4 2003-04
23.1 2012-13

The team clinched a playoff berth in six of those seasons, while winning a Stanley Cup championship in 2002-03, plus advancing to the Stanley Cup final in 2000-01. The team didn’t clinch a playoff berth in the shortened (lockout year) in 2012-13. Since 1994-95, the team’s highest shots per game total is 33.1, which was earned in 1999-00. The team then won its second Stanley Cup championship. The Devils earned their two-fastest goals scored in a single game for franchise history on Thursday, Nov. 3, vs Edmonton, after Ryan Graves (16:45, 3rd per.) and Jesper Bratt (16:52, 3rd per.) scored seven seconds apart. The previous record was Apr. 6, 2001, when John Madden (16:31, 1st per.) and Patrik Elias (16:39, 1st per.) scored eight seconds apart in a 5-2 win vs Boston.

The Devils officially announced and revealed their second-ever Adidas Reverse Retro sweater, which turns back the clock and nods to the franchise’s Colorado roots. The team is scheduled to wear the sweaters four times this season and twice on the road:

Dec. 9, vs NYI, 7:00 P.M.
Dec. 30, at PIT, 7:00 P.M.
Jan. 7, vs NYR, 1:00 P.M.

Side note…On Oct. 12, 2022, Andy Greene officially signed a one-day contract and retired as a Devil. The Trenton, Michigan native’s 923 regular-season games played ranks seventh all-time in franchise history, and third all-time for defensemen in franchise history.

LAST TRADE

Jesper Bratt entails 21 PTS (6g-15a) entering Tuesday’s contest:
Below – the most points earned by a skater in franchise history (NJD/CLR/KCS) after the team’s first 16 games played to start a season:

Jack Hughes enters tonight’s contest riding a three-game point streak (3g-3a= PTS), which also entails goals in consecutive games. Per NHL Pr, Hughes (21 years, 185 days) netted his 50th career NHL goal on Tuesday and became the fifth-youngest Devils skater in franchise history who earned his 50th career tally:

The last Devils skater to score his 50th career goal in fewer games played (182 GP) was Zach Parise on Nov. 12, 2007 (180 GP). The Devils improved to 6-0-0 when Jack Hughes scores a goal this season. The 3 PTS night marked Hughes’ 10th career three-point affair, and first since Fe. 25, 2022, at Chicago. Hughes leads the Devils with 15 PTS (6g-9a) since the team’s 10-game winning streak began on Oct. 25, at Detroit. The youngster’s 70 shots on goal this season ranks sixth in the NHL, per Nov. 16. San Jose’s T. Meier ranked first in the NHL with 89 shots on goal.

While Tomas Tatar’s career-high seven-game point streak ended on Tuesday, the Slovakian native’s +15 rating since Oct. 25, 2022, ranks first for all NHL skaters. Additionally, Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler entail a +13 rating since Oct. 25, which is tied with H. Lindholm for second in the NHL dating to the time. Overall, for the 2022-23 campaign (Per, Nov. 16), Seigenthaler (+16), Hischier (+13) and Tatar (+13) rank second, third and fourth in the NHL for plus/minus rating, respectively. Dougie Hamilton extended his point streak to five games (3g-4a), after earning his fourth multi-point effort (1g-1a) on Tuesday. The five-game point streak marked the 6-foot-6 blueliner’s longest point streak since joining the Devils last season, while his prior season-high with Jersey was a four-game point streak earned via Oct. 23, 2021, to Oct.31 (1g-4a). Keep in mind that Hamilton’s shooting% is 20% (15 SOG) since his five-game point streak started on Nov. 5, at Calgary. Since that time, three other Devils skaters entail a higher shooting% than Hamilton:

Hamilton’s shooting percentage since Nov. 5, 2022, leads all NHL defensemen who’ve played in at least five games and recorded 10-or-more shots over that time frame. Additionally, Hamilton earned his second game-winning goal for the season, which is tied for second on the team with Dawson Mercer and Jesper Bratt. Hischier’s three game-winning goals lead the Devils for the 2022-23 campaign. Only San Jose’s Erik Karlsson entails more game-winning goals (3) for NHL defensemen this season than Hamilton, while N. Dobson, A. Fox and B. Montour also have two game-winners for the 2022-23 campaign.

QUICK HITS
Dawson Mercer is fresh off his first multi-point effort for the season (0g-2a) and is two games away from playing in his 100th career NHL contest. Mercer played in all 82 games last season, and owns the fifth longest consecutive games played streak to start an NHL career in franchise history:

Erik Haula & Michael McLeod rank in the top 10 for face-off% in the NHL. Per Nov. 16, McLeod and Haula were tied for seventh in the NHL in face-off% at 60.5%.
As of Nov. 16, Haula ranked third in the NHL for face-off% on the road at 64.8, while Chicago’s J. Toews ranked first at 67.2%.
Fabian Zetterlund’s 30 shots on goal rank (tied, N. Lundkvist) second for all NHL rookies behind Ottawa’s S.

Pinto’s 31 SOG.
Zetterlund has taken seven slap shots this season, which ranks second on the Devils behind Hamilton’s eight clappers. Nico Hischier enters his third season as team captain. Damon Severson is the longest-tenured Devil via 2014-15. Dawson Mercer is the first player in franchise history to wear No. 91. Mercer donned No. 18 last season, which was taken over by two-time Stanley Cup champion Ondrej Palat.

COACH’S CORNER
Head coach Lindy Ruff earned his 783rd career regular-season win on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, and now ranks fifth all-time for NHL head coaches. Ruff was tied with the great Al Arbour for fifth all-time at 782. Vitek Vanecek won his seventh consecutive “decision” after Tuesday’s win, but is not credited with a seven-game winning streak since he logged a “no decision” after the Czech-born netminder was removed from the team’s game in the third period on Nov. 10, vs Ottawa.

Vanecek’s career-high winning streak remains at six games, which was earned twice in his NHL career. The last Devils netminders who won seven consecutive decisions were both Martin Brodeur and Johan Hedberg in 2010-11.

TONIGHT’S PLAYER TO WATCHS PLAYER TO WATCH
Erik Haula is one of three Devils this season who haven’t earned a goal, yet (K. Bahl & B. Smith). However, Haula and Smith are the only players that played in all of Jersey’s 16 games for 2022-23 but haven’t found the back of the net. Haula’s been snake bitten and viewers can expect No. 56 to ink his name in the goal column sooner rather than later.
