The Washington Capitals opened the score with three goals in the first period, then Hudson Fasching and Casey Cizikas each found the back of the net with less than six minutes remaining in regulation, but the New York Islanders fell to the Washington Capitals, 5-2, Monday night at Capital One Arena. Noah Dobson and Bo Horvat each recorded points for the third straight game as the Islanders finished their season series against the Capitals with a 1-2-1 record in their final road game of the 2022-23 regular season

TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
Tonight, the New York Islanders conclude the 2022-23 regular season as they host the Montreal Canadiens in the third and final meeting between the two teams. The last time these teams met was February 11 at Bell Centre, when the Islanders captured a point in a 4-3 overtime loss. The Islanders have collected points in four of their last five home meetings with Montreal, including the last time the Canadiens visited UBS Arena on January 14. Casey Cizikas found the back of the net in a 2-1 Islander win. The Islanders played their final road game of the regular season on Monday night in Washington, D.C. They fell to the Capitals in a 5-2 decision. They finish the season with a 17-18-6 record as the visiting team, and a 16-8-2 record against Metropolitan Division opponents.
