TEAM NOTES
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
Tonight, the New York Islanders host the Montreal Canadiens in the first of three matchups between the two clubs this season. These teams met three times in 2021-22, and the Islanders collected at least one point each time, a 2-0-1 record. The last time these teams played was on April 15, 2022 in Montreal. Brock Nelson, Noah Dobson and Zach Parise each scored to help the Islanders earn a 3-0 victory at Bell Centre. The Canadiens’ last visit to UBS Arena was February 20, 2022. Nelson scored with less than three minutes remaining to help the Islanders capture a point, but they fell to Montreal 3-2 in a shootout.

AGAINST THE ATLANTIC
The Islanders have faced an Atlantic Division team just four times in the last two months, but have collected at least one point each time they have played one in that span, posting a 3-0-1 record against the Atlantic since November 14 in Ottawa. They have outscored their four opponents (Ottawa, Toronto, Boston, Florida) 15-9 in that span. They began the season 0-4-0 in the Atlantic. The Islanders have an 11-8-1 record against Eastern Conference opponents this season, but are 4-2-1 against Conference foes since the beginning of December. Their last three home victories have come against teams in the East.
