WELCOME TO THE SHOW, KID
LA Kings rookie forward Samuel Fagemo scored his first career NHL goal on Saturday night against the Hurricanes in his second game of the season and sixth of his career. Fagemo scored his goal two days following his season debut with the Kings where he recorded his first career assist on Carl Grundstrom’s second period goal last Thursday versus Arizona. Fagemo become the 41st different player from the 2019 NHL Draft class to record their first career NHL goal and the sixth Swedish-born player from his class, joining fellow teammate, Tobias Bjornfot (22nd-overall, LAK), along with Nils Hoglander (40th-overall, VAN), Elmer Soderblom (159th-overall, DET), Victor Soderstrom (11th-overall, ARI) and Phillip Broberg (8th-overall, EDM). Prior to his recall to the Kings on Dec. 1, Fagemo skated in 15 games with the Reign this season, earning eight points (6-2=8) to lead the club in goals (6) and power-play goals (4) while also ranking fifth in points (8). Last season, Fagemo appeared in four contests with the Kings, including his NHL debut on Jan. 13 against Pittsburgh. EVEN-STRENGTH MACHINE
Forward Kevin Fiala notched his team-leading eighth multi-point effort (1-1=2) of the season last Thursday against the Coyotes to extend his season point total to 28 points (8-20=28), which leads all Kings skaters. In doing so, Fiala eclipsed the 20-assist mark for his fourth consecutive season and sixth overall. In 27 games this season, Fiala’s 20 assists are tied for ninth-most in the league among forwards and sits six behind Edmonton’s
Connor McDavid (26) the lead league. Of Fiala’s 28 points, 20 have come at even-strength. Since the beginning of last season, Fiala has notched 87 even-strength points, which is tied for seventh-most among all skaters in the league:
