– For the 11th time in franchise history, the Panthers have followed a shutout loss with a shutout win. – Aleksander Barkov has amassed 29 points (11-18-29) in 33 career games against the Toronto Maple Leafs. – Brandon Montour led the Cats in points with five (2-3-5) in four games against the Leafs during the 2022-23 campaign. – The Panthers and Devils are the only teams that have not surrendered more than 35 shots against in a game this season.
PANTHERS AND MAPLE LEAFS
The Panthers head to Toronto to faceoff against the Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena. The Cats beat the Leafs, 3-1, in the first matchup of the four-game season series on Oct. 19. Sam Reinhart posted two points (1-1-2), including a short-handed goal. Panthers free agency pickups Kevin Stenlund and Oliver Ekman-Larsson each scored their first goals of the campaign against the Leafs on Oct. 19. The Panthers and Maple Leafs met in the second round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, where the Cats edged the Leafs, four games to one. Carter Verhaeghe, who was originally selected by Toronto in the third round (82nd overall) in 2013, led all Cats skaters with three goals (3-1-4) that series. Nick Cousins scored the series clinching goal during Game 5 in overtime.

Florida owns a 9-4-0 record thus far this month, tied with COL for the league lead in wins as of games played through Nov. 27. Their 32 goals against ranks second fewest among teams with at least twelve games played from Nov. 1-27. Sergei Bobrovsky’s two shutouts this month are tied for league lead. Sam Reinhart’s four powerplay goals are tied for third among NHL skaters. Matthew Tkachuk ranks tied for second among all NHLers with 54 shots on goal from Nov. 1-27.
A VIEW TO A (PENALTY) KILL
The Cats rank fourth in the league in penalty kill percentage (88.1%), since Oct. 28. Florida has not allowed a powerplay goal in four straight games (14-for-14).
PACING PLAY
The Panthers average 33.7 shots on goal per game, second-most among NHL teams, while allowing just 27.7 against – tied for third fewest in the League. Florida has also surrendered just 32 five-on-five goals against this season through 21 games, tied for second fewest among clubs.
