TONIGHT’S GAME: The Stars are back on the road for another three-game road trip beginning tonight in Columbus. (6:30 p.m. CT, ESPN+/Hulu, The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). This is the second and final meeting of the regular season between the Stars and Blue Jackets, which opened with a 5-3 Dallas victory on Oct. 30 at American Airlines Center. The Stars enter tonight’s game with a 7-3-1 record (15 points), good for second place in the Central Division. The Blue Jackets are 4-5-3 (11 points) and sixth in the Metropolitan.

NICE TO SEE YOU, NOVEMEBR The Blue Jackets fell in both games of their two-game road trip, falling 2-1 at Washington on Saturday and 5-4 in overtime at Florida on Monday. The Blue Jackets are in a stretch of eight-of-10 games played against Eastern Conference teams from Oct. 26-Nov. 14. The only two games against the Western Conference during the stretch come against the Dallas Stars (Oct. 30 at Dallas, Nov. 9 at Columbus). The club plays 15 games in the month, including three back-to-back sets (Nov. 11 at Detroit/Nov. 12 at NY Rangers, Nov. 18 at Washington/Nov. 19 at Philadelphia and Nov. 26 at Carolina/Nov. 27 vs. Boston).

JACKETS ON THE KILL Columbus has killed off all 13 opponent power play opportunities over the past five contests. The club ranks eighth in the NHL in penalty kill percentage this season at 86.8 pct. (33-of-38) and second in penalty kill percentage since Oct. 10 (92.6 pct.), killing off 25- of-27 opponent power play chances over the last nine games.

BLOCK IT LIKE IT’S HOT CBJ posted the third-highest total of blocked shots in a game this season with 30 in Monday’s game at Florida. It was also tied for the second-most (third time) blocked shots in a single game in franchise history (stats kept since 2005-06), trailing only 34 blocked shots registered on Mar. 17, 2012 at Vancouver. The club ranks second in the NHL in blocked shots-per-60 minutes (19.61) and third in blocked shots this season (239). Defenseman Erik Gudbranson leads the team and ranks ninth-T among all NHL skaters in blocked shots in 2023- 24 with 33. He has posted points in two of the last three games (1-2-3) after notching the game winner on Nov. 2 vs. Tampa Bay and picking up his fourth career multi-assist outing with two assists on Monday at Florida.

SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS The Blue Jackets have outshot five (Minnesota, Anaheim, Montreal, the NY Islanders and Washington) of their last eight opponents, outshooting the opposition by a combined 20 shots over the stretch. The team outshot the Wild 54-28 (+26) in the 5-4 overtime win at Minnesota on Oct. 21. The 54 shots on goal tied for the fourth-most in a single game in franchise history and was the second-most in a win, trailing only the 60 shots recorded in a 3-2 SOW at Arizona on Dec. 3, 2016. The +26-shot differential was tied for the third-highest in a win in franchise history, trailing only +28 (44-16) recorded in a 2-0 win vs. Detroit on Feb. 7, 2020 and +27 (47-20) in a 3-1 victory over Nashville on Apr. 27, 2013. It also tied the record for largest shot differential in a road victory after also finishing +26 (60-34) in a 3- 2 SO win at Arizona on Dec. 3, 2016. FROM THE BLUE LINE Blue Jackets’ blueliners posted 0-4-4 on Monday at Florida and have combined for 3-21-24 over the past nine contests. They have collected 5-24-29 in 12 games this season to rank eighth-T among NHL defensive units in assists and 12th in points. Defenseman Ivan Provorov has collected assists in eight of 12 games played this season (0-9-9) and leads the team in assists and points, while also ranking seventh-T among NHL blueliners in assists. He set a new career high with assists in four-straight games (0-4-4) from Oct. 20-26. Blueliner Damon Severson scored his first goal as a Blue Jacket on Oct. 30 at Dallas and has collected 1-3-4 in his first 12 games with the club, while David Jiricek has recorded 1-2-3 in 10 outings this season to rank fifth-T in scoring among NHL rookie blueliners.
